2010 zx6r buzz??

Post by OVR9K »

yo guys,
so i've got a zx6r with a buzzing when i hit around 4.5 - 4.8k revs,
and seems to be coming from the front end of the bike, it sounds like the area around the ram air tube areaor cluster, *generally*
anyone know what this is??
a quick google to a zx14r forum said it was something like the the 'bike down sensor' or something like that.....

cheers

lol mr blurr i pass through those rev ranges, and also i go through quite a few school zones and you know. all those excuses that people tell, oh and dont forget i was travelling with 2fiddys :P
i cant tell if its metalic or plastic .. its a buzz that you can hear over the engine at 57kms p/hr .. they both sound the same to me...

Have been running in a mate's ZX6R for her and so a fair bit of time spent down around those revs and have not noticed any buzz at all, her's is a 2010, old floor stock but definitely no strange noises at all!

yea, this is a sound that just arose after my 6000 service....
i'm letting it slip for now and passing it as a kawka melody, and assume it to be music from the bike :D

just pull everything apart at the front and put it back together... see if anything is missing as you're taking it apart

Yep Six that sounds like a plan, probably the only way to find out for sure what the heck it is! Other than that should still be under warranty so let the dealer sort it out maybe?

If it were my bike the dealer would have had a phone call by now.

Im still running mine in and I havent noticed any buzz; Hate to admit the bike is hovering around the rpm's that you have mentioned.

As others have mentioned, go over the hex and allen key bolts to see if something has come loose.

If its modified, things like crash nobs that bolt into the engine frame, or an aftermarket mid pipe may have loosen up and need re-tightening to torque spec.

Have you checked the dummy bolts on the fuel cap? Only 3 or so actually bolt to the tank on my "06 ZX10R one of the dummy ones was loose and the sound echoed back from the tach area took me months to figure out where it was coming from, a drop of loctite and all good.
