Re: Moving to Sydney
Well seeing as I'm going to be in the same city as the creek I intend to spend as much time as time and finances allow there. I've always felt guilty about having a crim and using it to get to work and not much else. Work hours will be 8 hour shifts 7am - 3pm or 3pm - 11pm rotating and sometimes being across the weekend. I'm finishing year 5 of 6 of a part time degree so I don't have time for too much of a social life. Mostly I just like tinkering with or riding my scoot when my head isn't in a book. Not really interested in commuting any more than 30 mins per sitting if I can avoid it.
Real bravery is being afraid but doing it anyway.

Re: Moving to Sydney
cheaper rents out ingleburn, campbelltown way, starts getting expensive as you go towards the city.
1/2 way between homebush and ingleburn would be about bankstown; try looking there.
as for only doing 1/2 hour at a time; i once got stuck in traffic at hoxton park heading towards campbelltown and it took 3 hours (ps its 20 k's) and i was on the bike, and splitting to get that time! (i even pitied the cagers that night)

If life is like a box of chocolates, why do I always get the laxettes?

Re: Moving to Sydney
Isn't Minto, Ingleburn, Macquarie fiels a shit-hole? I'd rather live somewhere like Douglas Park or Appin and be out of the hustle and bustle of Shitney than rent a place around there. The other option could be Engadene or Heathcote as it's not too bad a run along Heathcote road to get to Ingleburn and you would be closer to the coast and the Nasho for the occasional run on the bike.

Ummm yeah but the commute is a bitch for some and no public transport at either of those 2 areas. I agree with not living in Syd, thats why I have no intrusion of heading back if undone have to but minto has good section and a bad section, ingelburn ain't that bad really but much the same theory, good and bad sections.

Re: Moving to Sydney
Douglas Park has a train station. I think they run hourly through there. I looked at buying a place there 8 or 9 years ago and it was possible to get a train to work when we looked into it.Blurr wrote:Nelso wrote:Isn't Minto, Ingleburn, Macquarie fiels a shit-hole? Re: Moving to Sydney
I would stay well clear of anywhere from Cambelltown to Inglebun on the eastern side of the Hume Hwy, a lot of Housing Commission in those areas.
I would look on the western side of the Hume, Narellan, Harrington Park, Elderslie or Mt Annan for a suburban environment. But if it were me, I would be looking more rural at the Camden, Grasmere and Cobbity areas.

Re: Moving to Sydney
My only advice in Sydney is to minimise the commute, the traffic is terrible. I walk to work and I still blame peakhour for running late
Like Blurr said, lane splitting is frowned upon but at lights etc I do it all the time. Never had an issue. As long as you stay well clear of Dodgy Five Dock

With those shifts the M5 should be ok for you if you live around the Oatley area. But like has been said the closer to the city the more exe... 450 a week is a sizeable budget for a unit/townhouse closer in but if its a house you need then try and find the nicer areas as Smithy5 suggested. I have little to no idea any further west of Strathfield only Bogans live that wayAussie Ninja wrote:Well seeing as I'm going to be in the same city as the creek I intend to spend as much time as time and finances allow there.
