hot stator cover

Post by mick12 »

just repainted the clutch & stator covers on my 12r and the stator cover seems to get hot fairly quickly but the clutch cover is still just warm after about 5 minutes cant say i have ever noticed this before i was just worried that mabe the stator could be a little out of alignment and slightly rubbing on the drum as it seems to be a close fit judging by the way the magnets rip it out of your hand when reinstalling or is it more likly to be oil forced through the tiny journal at the top spraying directly on the cover :? :?

stator covers always run a bit warmer than the clutch - nothing to worry about. There is no chance that anything could be *rubbing*, as the tolerances are based on the cover being bolted in tight.
