Who said anything about cheap, that thing's cost me a small fortune, still I don't think I'll ever spend as much as you have in repair bills, even with a complete engine rebuild! ;)
Meh....when it comes to costly engine repairs you two are small time   :(

yep the KTM450EXC is very sedate compared to the KTM450SX

Same again for the KLX450 comapared to the KX450

and again the WR450 is nothing compared to the YZF450

Pinchy will soon find this out if he tries to race a WR or KLX in the 450 class

Glenn is doing me a better deal than that. ;) My primary reason for doing this is racing, and an ms bike would better suit that function, yes I can't ride fire trails or the old road, but I want to race.

If you want it registered by a wrf and spec it up to the same as the yzf . easy to do just depends on what year you go. I've had three yzf450's over the last couple of years and if maintained you can do a full Mx season 55-60hrs with only minor maintenance (valve clearances, oil and filter). If your deadset on motard aswell yamaha actually make a supermoto kit which is very good I had it on my wrf

Wheels, bridgey sm tires, Cush drive, tubes, oversize brake disc and bracket, chains and sprockets, sliders for $2200 ish...

Id have to have yz450 to go the factory Yamaha kit, also i think it has to be 09- present... I'll have to do some investigationing

Mate Wattie filled me in today regarding the kit. You need to run Road legal tyres in the FX series, not SM tyres.

Plus the Yamaha kit also comes with better calipers, bigger MC and braided line (you'll need this and they are about $900 alone.

Yamaha will supply this for almost any bike as long as your registered in their series.

Unless you get a KTM, you will never stop the bike without the good brake caliper and and lines.

The KTM's have brembo calipers standard. and then upgraded with abigger disc and relocating bracket they work well. but not in the same ballpark as my Beringer caliper. or franks for that matter (i have 4 piston, franks has 6)
with a yz, wr, klx, kx, rm, cr etc brakes are not the same.

The Redding kit includes the following:
Front wheel: special hub and spokes with 3.5 x 17in rim
Rear wheel: special hub (with cush drive) and spokes with 5.0 x 17in rim
Set Dunlop Alpha 12 production racing tyres with tubes
Supermoto front guard
Crash knob set (fr axle, rear axle and footpegs)
320mm Front brake kit ( 320mm wave disc, Brembo 4 piston caliper,
Brembo racing master cylinder, braided steel front brake line, custom caliper
carrier bracket)
Sprocket set: 15t front, 40 and 45t rear
Handguard set
Fluid Overflow bottle

Kit price (full kit, suits 2010 and 2011 YZ450F models) = $2600 RRP inc GST

Thats a Pretty good deal. and if Redding does as Phil mentioned, will do it for most makes, you are on fire!

now seperate note, KTM 450's 08 onwards have a 4 speed gearbox. which could be quite beneficial once geared up, les you will loos out a little on the start, but you will have nice continious pull out of bends. Single cyl thumpers have great tour and linear power. so something to consider also.

there is 08+ KTM's on ebay for under 5grand at times. with very little mods to do to get running. 8)

but thats enough of my Pro KTM motard rattle.
