How's this for an Ahole act?

Post by Mizz ZZR »

Friday, drove to work cause it was wet in the morning, park the car, go inside, get started.

Half hour later, a collegue comes over and tells me I better go move my car or I'll get booked. What the? is my response, knowing there was nothing wrong with how I parked, so I grab my keys and look anyway.

There's my car, and instead of angle parked - where I'm sure I left it - the back of the car is moved around in the opposite angle to where it should have been. I scratched my head for a while doubting my sanity, before going out for a closer look.

Some Ahole has hit it so hard, that its moved it and has taken off, no note, no witnesses of course. Its difficult to see from the photo, but there's a dent in the guard, smashed tail lens, scratched and dented bumper, but the worse part was a cut in my tyre, next to a couple of grazes on the alloy. I called the police, but they said there's nothing they can do without witnesses, so now its all up to me. Goodbye $500 excess and probably a couple of ratings for something entirely not my fault. I hate Aholes.

The red in the pic is where it was before the hit.

Should have called cops..hit and run. :x

They must have left some damaged stuff and the guys at CSI or Bones etc could track the culprit down in 1 hour. :kuda:

Check neighboring businesses for cameras that might look into the entrances/exits to the car park and see if they are willing to help. My guess is they parked opposite you and backed into you, so be on the lookout for vehicles with rear end damage.

If it was hit with enough speed to move it that far I would've thought there would have been more damage.
Since the damage isn't so profound maybe it was hit and pushed with something slower like a truck backing into it or something. Your car isn't parked opposite a grundy bin or loading bay is it?

If there are alot (or even just a few) businesses in the area maybe you could do a door knock to see if anyone saw anything.

There's a big ass island down the centre of the street, and there's no extra tyre marks on it, so it hasn't happened from the opposite side. There's a printing business opposite, with an always open roller door, but we asked and no one heard or saw anything. They have printing machines running in there all the time, so that's understandable. The only camera that we know of on our block faces the other way, so that's out. There's no other colour paint left behind either, prompting a bullbar theory. A truck would have been too high to cut the tyre, cause it was about half way up, which is probably less that 30cm off the ground.

We have an office of engineers and architechts who all came out to have a look and they're tipping its a bullbar. The theroy also includes a driver, under the influence of something, going too fast, and possibly concentrating more on their mobile phone or other driving gadgy - I love people using those distracting toys. Selfish bastards, with no regard for other road users. This is in Port Melbourne, where plenty of people couldn't give a rats about anything, cept their next hair extension/spray tan appointment. The police wouldn't come out cause there's nothing they can do without witnesses they said, but have taken note of it in case anyone comes forward. Nothing I can do, but cough up - and continue whinging for a while.

See, if I had have ridden, I would have been parked up on the footpath, with a tree blocking me from the parked cars.

We had a similar incident in Bendigo where my wife left her car parked in the street in the middle of town and another lady parked up the road a little and got out of her car and didnt put the hand brake on, it rolled down the street and into our car, causing a similar amount of damage to what your car recieved, although we were very lucky that the lady left a note with her details, thank goodness there are still some honest people in the world.

I hope you find the culpritt :)

Queit easy know days, alot of people just dont give a fuck  and as for the bullbar a lot of medium rigid trucks there bars can be as low as 30cm no worries, especially newer ones because of the new rules so cars cant go under the truck when hit head on ect.
