Few 250R Questions

Post by bd-850 »

Well hi.

Shopping around at bikes for a while now, and i keep on going back the Ninja 250R so just a few questions i hope you can help me out with.

1. What RPM are you doing while sitting on 100km/h
2. Whats it like sitting at 100km/h, (ie screaming its tits off etc)
3. whats the acceleration like from 80km/h onwards (just for overtaking)
4. Will it wheelie? (just kidding)

Cheeers

hey ben,

from memory you sit at about 8000rpm at 100km/h, 100km/h is ok in terms of revs, once you start pushing up around 120 its very much buzzing along, but its still fun ;)

from 80 its probably not too bad, you might want to kick it down a gear or plan ahead from 100km/h tho... but form 80 its reasonable..

and lastly it would only wheelie if you clutched it up, with normal gearing it wont under power...

Cheers,

not going to be a speed demon (would rather do that in the car) but i know its a pain in the ass to try and overtake slowly its just not safe. becomes a real pain when the car infront is doing 5-10ks under the limit and you cant really overtake.

oh will dealers let a L plater take a bike for a test ride, keep in mind im 25 so not a "young" hoon

Mine sits about 7K at 100 and 9k at 120 in 6th gear. As Six Addict said you want to kick it into 5th when overtaking traveling at 100 and do a bit of forward planning as it starts to flatten out around the 120 mark.
Worst thing about the bike is the suspension as you feel every bump and I'm pretty sure you can't adjust it? Otherwise it's a fun bike to ride.

I bought a 09 ninja 250 just before christmas , mine sits at around 6 - 7 @ 90 - 100 kms
I think the revs are pretty high actuly as much as i love my bike , its not a great bike for long distance.
The bikes "pick up " is great , and will go around 140 - 180 kms? , but it will be reving its tits off
Its perfect for around town/city riding , absouluty perfect! but on long distance the whole time im thinking i cant
wait to get my R1 !!
I think there still pretty sick though , I love my bike ;)

I know it feels like they revvin heaps at 100k, but thats how they are designed, it is fine to keep those revs.. 8)

4. LOL. Heaps of revs, and i mean HEAPS and dump the clutch. but i didnt tell you that :p

I'll say (more or less) the same thing as everyone else. :P

About 6500rpm at 100km/h, wasn't revving off it's head at 100km/h on the M2 every morning (If you can believe I even got to 100km/h on the M2).

They will wheelie, but as Miz already said, lotsa revs and dump the clutch. I've seen one at 12 o'clock, but he knew what he was doing. :P I personally never bothered to try.
