Wasn't the best track day ever... but wasn't the worst either. We had the first half of the day with drizzly rain and a wet track. Not wet enough for wet tyres, not dry enough for slicks - the sort of track where you aren't sure whether or not to bother going out.
Then it dried up and we had three dry sessions. Well, I only had two, because in the second dry session I had an oopsie
It wasn't a great day. There were crashes galore - heaps of people went down, oil spills, fuel spills, lost track time, etc. We even had one pelican stop on the side of the track after Turn 4, to chat to his mate who had crashed there. And a goose who survived a crash at Turn 9 unscathed, pushed his bike away from danger, down to Turn 4, then proceeded to injure himself while trying to clean his bike. Obviously wanted more attention for his crash ;)

Firstly, I'd like to thank everyone who grabbed my bike from the trailer and helped clean up all the mud to see if there was any damage underneath it or not! I guess I owe a few beers  And also thanks to all of you who helped Dave pack my shit away, as I wasn't too much help by that point. And thanks Dave for applying medicinal quantities of red wine last night :)

So yeah, I kinda crashed. Yesterday, after it happened, I didn't think it rated 'crash' status, as I kept it up after I left the track and it was only because of the wet grass that I dropped it. But as the evening wore on and I got sorer and sorer and realised that I was probably going faster than I thought when I came off, and now I'm not so sure... Anyway. I've been having problems with Turn 10 and 11 for a while - and I keep trying new things. Let me just say, that last thing I tried didn't work too well and I hopefully won't be repeating that particular line  I munted up 10, royally. Which in turn had me totally out of shape for 11. Being an idiot, I made the wrong call and instead of turning it in harder, I stood it up and chose to run off. Bad call as I was going slow enough that I could've easily made the turn had I committed to it, but fast enough that off-roading wasn't a good idea at all.
Nelso can tell it better as he was right up my arse and saw it all, wondering what the hell I was doing! The marshalls apparently had a good laugh as after my exit from the track was reported the commentary went something like this "She's off. She's down. She's up. She's trying to pick up the bike. She's trying to pick up the bike. She's trying again to pick up the bike again. She's given up and is on the tyre wall"
I've picked up my bike before and I can do it, but the mud and grass were just too slippery to get much traction. I also got a bit of ribbing from the tyre-change guys and the rego crew. All in good fun :D

The front fairing is cracked a little bit, and my Yoshi had a nice little mudbath. People pay money for mudbaths and apparently they're rejuvenating, so I expect Yoshi will be feeling refreshed this morning, while I feel old and stiff and sore. But I'm ok. Just muscle sore. At the time I had no idea if I hurt myself trying to pick up my bike, or in the actual impact, because it was only a bit later that it started to get sore. My lower back took the worst of it, but isn't as bad as I was expecting this morning. And I pulled a muscle in my calf trying to hold the bike up. So, no big deal, luckily!

Bugga Cath, but sounds like it turned out ok. ;)

I've done a similar thing, munting up 10 and taking a rocky detour at 11 to rejoin at 12. 10/11 gets a lot of people one way or another. :x

Crashing motorbikes is a bit like getting out in cricket, just when you think you've seen everything, there's always another way to get out. :kuda:

I had put in a request to the aforementioned Goose for a Highside entering 12! a lowside at 9 isn't even close and then a blatant attempt to get sympathy by slashing his finger after the crash is just pathetic! :kuda:
