New learner/New zzr250 - Hi all

Post by bike_nub »

Hey all
I'm from the south east of Melbourne, just outside of Dandenong.

I just woke up one morning and decided to get my learner's permit :) Take the edge off my boredom

Just bought a used 2001 zzr250. Mechanically it's good (i think). Problem is that it was dropped on the clutch side and the previous owner put aftermarket fairings on...but with little effort and attention to detail.

Anyway, I'm looking for some help from the pros on this forum. Where is the best place to start a topic and get advice on how best to fit/repair fairings, straighten steering and take everyone along the ride with some pics?

thanks in advance

What's the best way to get the centre stand down (without getting my wife's help?? )

Welcome aboard :)

Centerstand: push it down and stand on it with all your weight. At the same time use your right hand on the pillion grab rail and lift while guiding the handlebars with your left hand. It should pop up but with practice you'll get it :)

Check youtube as well - few vids there covering it.

If you're a heavy bugger like me I just put my weight on the stand and the bike just pops up ;)

Welcome! nice zzr!

+1 to Wayne's advice, i'll also add that the ZZR twofiddy is a real struggle to get onto the c-stand even tho its relatively light compared to to bigger bikes.. with my ZZR I really have to stomp hard on the stand and kinda heave the bike backwards at the same time to get it up on the stand.. really takes some hard yakka to get it done.. GPZ and Er5 are much easier to comply.. just some downward force on the stand and plonk its done..

Thanks peeps for the advice on the centre stand. It's no where as easy as the videos show it...so I take on board what you said fully GPZ_Jim ;)

Took my bike for the first ride yesterday...and now the RH indicators are not working (even the dash signal) :(

I'll start a new topic soon with the all the questions listed
