Stolen from another forum.
http://www.vuplex.com.au/
VuPlex®VuPlex® was designed for use within the demanding Aviation industry and delivers a fast, safe, and effective solution to plastic maintenance.
The ingredients in VuPlex® have been specifically selected and tested to deliver fast quality results with the minimum of effort and fuss.
Some cleaners use abrasives to remove dirt and scratches. This not only introduces more scratches to the surface but over time weakens the plastic through constant plastic removal. VuPlex® works in reverse to this process by penetrating the dirt and grime in the surface and adding a fine layer of filling material that leaves the surface protected and adds a lustrous finish to clear and coloured plastics and makes plastic paints gleam like new.
A preventative as much as a cure!
VuPlex® is a preventative as much as a cure. If VuPlex® is applied when plastic is new, it protects the surface from premature aging. If the surface is already damaged with fine scratches and in-ground grime, VuPlex® will restore the surface and clarity, leaving a finish that is polished and protected.

All else fails 800 grit w/d and a can of satin black. 2 weeks later hit it with the silicone stuff and hey presto. Not too much you can do for black ABS plastic that has turned greyish white through chemical and UV damage except for the above, if that is the kind of fading you are describing.

You might have missed the obvious, but just paint it with a vinyl spray paint. Flat black works well, but you can always use gloss which will make it easier to clean in future. It is much easier doing this than trying to fix faded and damaged plastic. It wont fade again.

I have used Bumper Care from Autoglym in the past on very badly faded plastic. I used to own a Peugeot 205 GTi & the plastic on the bumpers & wheel arches were pretty bad. This stuff used to do a top job & lasted for quite some time also.

Try toothpaste. Normal run of the mill toothpaste, not that gell crap. It worked a treat my some of the plastics of my ZXR250.
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.
