First track bike finished

Post by Reedy »

I Was trying to do it on the cheap but got a few surprises upon arrival. Had to make up bolts from smaller ones as the oems didn't fit. Had to paint the inside of the front fairing as they didn't both. Had to dremel every fairing as all the holes were way to small or mis-aligned and I'm proud to say at the end of it I only used 4 cable ties, on the centre fairing as it was all together and I cbf'd finding more bolts.

It's pretty much a bog standard zx6r 2000 model with 25000 kms. Sent it off for a major service as soon as I got it as it was running like shit on 2 cylinders and valve cover was leaking.

After 5 weeks of waiting fairings finally arrived from china on monday, matched bolts on tues, dremeled and prepped on wed (loctite rocks). Thursday hooray!

It was an experience and a bit of a challege to put together but it was good fun and I learned a lot. Gotta say the plastic is very stretchy heh.

The next track bike will be one that has a fibre glass mold available

Not too bad for $3900 including a major service :D

I just hope it doesn't explode whilst moving.... :P

Well done mate. You should have been able to get fibreglass fairings, but anyway, that looks pretty good. What have you done with the lights/holes in the front fairings?

The lights are still there, I was just planning on taping over them......
Yeh I rang up raceglass and another place in the west hills and they said no molds...i was looking at armour bodies and shark skins but there were like 900 bucks then another 500 to be painted. SO i decided to cheap it up with a $300 set from china. There's a possibility im going to send it sliding in one of the first few times so i figured damage control on the wallet and get some fibreglass later

thanks :kuda:
