Police were alerted to the crash when a passing motorist noticed damage to a tree. He investigated further and located the motorcycle down an embankment before calling for urgent assistance from emergency service. Police attended and located the 34-year-old rider deceased. Initial investigations suggest the motorcycle was heading up the mountain when, for unknown reasons, has left the roadway before colliding with a tree and falling down the embankment. It is believed the crash may have occurred sometime in the last 48 hours. Police are appealing to motorists who use Mt Nebo Road to please contact them if they have any information that may assist in the investigation. The Forensic Crash Unit will be investigating.

Scary,

I was up there (alone) on Sunday and did not notice anything. Mind you on some of the corners there - with an open throttle there would be no forgiveness. It was wet on the Saturday - so it would have been tricky.

Thoughts go out to the family....

I've heard of suicide runs before. one case i won't forget in a hurry i read about shortly before we went on our trip to the US. The story goes that a rider had topped themselves halfway along the route 1 coastal highway between LA and san francisco. They left their helmet on the ground next to where they were going to go over the edge so they would be found and then took a runup, pinned the throttle and were found a week later over 150feet down a near sheer edge :(, unfortunately they had a only-recently diagnosed case of depression.

Yeah read about that one. Used to ride nebo/glorious all the time @ dawn as it wasn't far from where i used to live. There are some very unforgiving corners with some serious drops.

Unsubstantiated Triumph abuse aside (the electrics never worked long enough for the engine to start to leak), having experienced severe depression for many years, it was family, friends and the rush of life that a bike gives that brought me through it. RIP to all who didn't make it.
