Is he suggesting that everyone should be allowed to do burnouts, donuts and fishtails whenever they feel like it?
Or chuckin a wheelie on the "private road", or providing that which does encourage others to try when normally they wouldn't? The link is still there mate.

In Vic, depending on the outcome, this can mean a minor offence ranging to manslaughter if you are in/on a vehicle in the wrong place or wrong time, as soon as you are in charge of one it seems you are now a potential murderer and a whole set of laws come into enactment even if you no had intent but just a passenger.I am no angel and have a long history of offending on the road in years gone, attitudes have changed so have mine.

Unless you read the instructions, hence the instruction book, I would like to get one before inadvertently and with naivety stepping in the shit please...and being naive is no excuse so a law degree is recommended.. Hell unless I studied law in this state I am totally at the mercy of the law that I dont know... But as I noticed I have been close to being a manslaughter victim/offender being 5 killers over the limit as with others around me, better still with good people using mobiles whilst driving I am considered worse.... I Dont see a campaign against that and the penalties are obviously no deterrent...

Nanny state?
Go further and our parental responsibility has been over ridden by the wrapped in cotton wool state.... please take responsibility and teach your kids about life and not leave it to the Nintendo or Krudd nanny to encourage them without control ffs...

Ok, rant over, just get real with what kills people on the road, not just the easy to detect shit like speed, or as I like to put it, inappropriate speed over 1kmph,

thankyou....

Nope, we didn't. I've never done a burnout. Have never seen the point.... Ooh, smoke from the tyres - awesome!

And burnouts do go wrong. I've personally seen a bystander get hit by a prat who decided to do a burnout. The smoke started, then for some reason the rear tyres re-gripped and he drove straight into a woman who was watching.

A quick search on YouTube will show you some classics like this:
<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/feR-jievJvM&hl ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/feR-jievJvM&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>[/youtube]

Even those that consider themselves good at them get it wrong:

I thought it was good policing that they said we don't care who you are, but you are complete and utter dickhead for doing a burnout in the centre of the city (well almost) as you leave the circuit. About the only two things Lewis didn't do was send out invitations and hang a neon light up saying here I am.

I believe they are now adding a picture of Lewis next the definition of stupid in the oxford dictionary.

I am with Aardyvarkon this (there is a first I think!) time and place for everything, burnouts, drag racing, power sliding they do go wrong. Head to the summer nats or a similar event and wait for the sun to go down when all the wannabe heroes get out and try their stunt driving skills. Having been a long time Mount Panaroma visitor I have seen a fair bit of carnage from over enthusiastic people in the donut patch get it wrong and crash into the crowd. One year I told my mates to stand next to a tree whilst I went to find a friend (safest place I always thought), came back with a car parked into it and them banging on about what a great idea it was to stand next to it. I merely pointed out that it was clearly the best place to stand as the tree was hit and not them :D

LAst year an Aussie stunt driver was placed on manslaughter charges in USA for ploughing into a crowd at a carnival. He lost control aned killed several people. He was a professional stunt driver. If he can fuck up and kill people then how come some of you think that some snot nosed teenager will be able to do it without consequences.
Lewis was extreamly sorry for his actions probably due to the negative press he will get more than anything but saying that, the police did their job and I am glad they did.
I also think Mark webbers comments after were in very poor judgement.

Just a slight correction, he wasn't a stunt driver but a professional drag racer. At the said carnival they would line either side of the street whilst cars of varying size did burnouts at over 100km/h hour past them with no safety barrier. Who would have thought that an accident would happen  Then sue the guy who crashed into you, it is a bit like standing at the other end of a rifle range to watch where the bullets will hit and then complain that you got shot by a stray bullet.

I have to agree with both Webber and Aardy on this one... In many respects we are over governed on speed alone yet as road users I reckon Australian drivers generally are some of the crapiest drivers in the world whether it be basic road craft or intolerance of others. Its the tailgating and the like that seems never to be policed anymore. I hope Im wrong on this point but Ive never heard of anyone being done for it!

Working on roadways alot of the time we wear our yellow vests and helmets but feel a total lack of safety due to mobile phone's being used, radio's being adjusted, people reading the paper its ridiculous. Even a 16 tonne red truck with flashing lights doesnt seem to catch peoples attention. Id be more than happy for HWP to sit and ping everyone who nearly hits us or better still abuses us for blocking a roadway while some poor sod gets Rescue to remove him from his/her crushed vehicle...

Just see how you like when you have to actually live with these stupid laws yourself
If I'm sitting in my own driveway and do a burnout....bye bye car.
It's f'ing ridiculous

I for one won't be doing a burnout in my driveway, or my street. Why would I want to devalue the house I've worked so hard to pay for? Let alone invite halfwits to the area who think it's acceptable in my suburb because others seem to be doing it.

I also won't be doing a burnout in my car because tyres cost too much. :(

There are plenty of other driving/riding skills I admire. Burnouts are for dumb-dumbs.

I've always been told a license is a privalige not a right.
I can't see how smoking up the wheels in the driveway is anything but stupidly irrisponsible. I suppose you are right the worst that can happen is you run over some small kid. No biggy realy.

I will say this what you do in your own space is your business as long as it does interfere with those around, thus doing a burnout on private land I will support (a bit like having a party) but as I have said before - time and place.
