Fantastic ride today! Oh & a helmet question...

Post by Megsnitro »

So I went on a 'big' ride today & made it to Wollombi (from lake mac) :D
My minja (midget ninja) was a little shy when we got there though so didn't stop. It had nothing to do with the fact I nearly had a panic attack looking at all the bikes lined up neatly parked!
Stopped at the ellalong hotel for a break & to check my butt was ok, I lost feeling in it for a while. Oh yeah, mental note - don't walk into the pub next time rubbing my bum wearing a dopey grin!
I just love riding & today was perfect :kuda:
The only thing that was a problem today was my ears?! My new helmet is really quiet but my ear canals hurt when I took it off. Is this something that I just need to get used to or could ear plugs be worn with the helmet?
Any opinions??

So now I'm all worn out, enjoying a beer & planing my next ride!! Hopefully soon I'll be ready to join in on some girl newbie friendly outings.

What helmet you got mate? i just bough a Shoei TZR and after a while my ear starts to hurt, but ive been told it will settle down after the padding gets used to the shape of your head

Yep - same as MrWasabi....my TZR took about 5-6 rides and it was all good but hurt my ear a fair bit for the first few rides.

I bought a shoei xr1100 Warlord (really wanted a pink one) and this was my first ride in it. Will try some ear plugs next weekend till the padding takes shape. Thanks for the tips!!

Dont think ear plugs will do much, as the pressure is on the ear if its anything like mine.
But if it does let me know cos id love to have a ride without a sore ear! :kuda:

Always wear something similar to these - the helmet might appear quiet, but noise damage is cumulative !

Sorry...what was that you said??? Ear plugs on a long ride are a must. I hate that continous thumping in the ears after 400 or so klms.

As for the sore ears, hopefully the helmet will bed in to the shape of your head. But sometimes, they don't. I've had lids which were great to run down to the shops with, but anything over 300klms caused discomfort. I've ended up finding one brand which eliminates this, unfortunately it's the most expensive brand.....Arai. But hey, at least they work well!

I may regret asking this..... but what is the other meaning of Minja??

EWW EWW just asked around the office and I now regret telling people things like
" I'm taking my minja for a ride tonight "
"I love my minja"

Ninjette is perfect.
