New Zealand Police..
GOOD, BETTER, BEST
GOOD
A cop from the NZ Police was watching for speeders, but wasn't getting many.
Then he discovered the problem - a 12-year-old boy was standing up the road with a hand painted sign, which read 'RADAR TRAP AHEAD.'
The officer then found a young accomplice down the road with a sign reading 'TIPS' and a bucket full of money.
(And we used to just sell lemonade!)
BETTER
A motorist was mailed a picture of his car speeding through an automated
radar post in the Manawatu with a Fine of $160 included.
Being cute, he sent the police department a picture of $160
The police responded with another mailed photo of handcuffs.
BEST
A young woman was pulled over for speeding.
As a NZ Policeman walked to her car window, flipping open his ticket
book, she said, 'I bet you are going to sell me a ticket to the Policemen's Ball.'
He replied, 'New Zealand Policemen don't have balls.'
There was a moment of silence while she smiled, and he realized what he'd just said.
He then closed his book, got back in his patrol car and left.
She was laughing too hard to start her car.

Re: New Zealand Police..
The was a story years ago about a Kiwi Barrister who registered his car in his dog's name...
When they tried to take him to court for unpaid parking fines, they realised they couldn't actually charge a dog. I believe many laws were changed because of this...
Not sure how true it is though

Re: New Zealand Police..
I wonder if there's any actual law against doing that...a 12-year-old boy was standing up the road with a hand painted sign, which read 'RADAR TRAP AHEAD.'

Probably, but what are they going to do to them, they are just kids and would get off with a slap on the wrist at worst.Cath wrote:I wonder if there's any actual law against doing that...a 12-year-old boy was standing up the road with a hand painted sign, which read 'RADAR TRAP AHEAD.'

They'd probably get you with "intent to pervert the course of justice"

TripleM radio station in sydney used to tell listeners where the mobile speed cameras were. I remember it was legal at the time, but I don't know why they stopped...

what actually happened down here a few years ago was this.
Radar vans are deployed around the city in specific locations for the *first* time in Canberra's history....
They are easily visible because they are big white Mercedes ? vans with heavily tinted windows....
A car-load of young hoons pulls up next to the van, to speak to the operator about the new radar equipment.....and while the radar operator has his attention diverted, one of the boys sneaks up to the front of the van, and steals the front number plate.....
They then drive away with the sign, di a U-turn up the road, drive back down the expressway and stop - and remove their front plate, and replace it with the plate off the van.....
They then proceed to drive up and back, about 17 ? times, speeding past the van....
Which of course takes 17 photos of a car with a number plate that belongs to the radar operator......and the system mails 17 speeding notices to the radar operator van ...

*That* is basically what happened down here a few years ago.
