don't you have some sort of ownership/finance check up there? in vic we can do it on line thorough vicroads.
Yup revs check.

I voted less kays bike earlier today. Does the guy seem genuine?

The guy told me that the battery was dead. He tried to charge it but it's no good, it's ok though as I've got a spare ;)

Also I'd like to hear from the 3 people that have voted for the 2001 model

dead battery may mean dead rectifier or stator... hence i say take the multimeter to check charge when started., .. (yes i have bought a bike with a dead stator before... wasn't impressed... but this check only takes 2 minutes)

dude you can do a free one online, just need the last rego, engine and vin number.

you have to pay if you want the cert. but i'd at least do the standard free one. 8)

How long has the bike been siting, apparently the seals etc can stuff up

Re leaving a deposit, I have done this twice, once with a dodgy bloke in Sydney (but no problem still as I had seen the bike at his house etc and got a receipt), the second off a bloke on this forum in Melbourne, I hadn't seen the bike in person but again no prob. I also just sold my ZZR 250 to a bloke who came from Windsor, he put money in my account then came up and got the bike, no problem.

I generally think people are good and most people wont rip you, just leave a minimal deposit in case you get stung.

i know Watt man...im just a lazy fuck :D but i will do that ;)

So if this bike has been sitting for over a year without use, i should be concerned about the seals? which ones in particular?

So have you started or ridden it?

I guess not. I'd be doing that if you can!

id be looking at fork seals, although if dirt has sat in there over time it may not start leaking untill you start to use the bike.

check the chain, make shore the links have movement

and your general engine seals :) make shore bikes fully warm when looking for leaks, while the oils the thinnest :kuda:

Less K's bike for sure. As to the 3 months rego versus none, well 3 months rego is really just delaying the inevitable renewal a little bit as your buying a bike with almost no rego (ok and a pink slip only needed). Think of it this way, you might as well be buying a bike interstate as either way the thing needs the rego crossed over.

Hey Owen,

In my VERY limited opinion I would be sceptical about the one that has sat for over a year.....I know a person who bought a bike from somewhere and the bike had relatively low kilometer's(30 odd thou) ran OK for 100k's and then blew a head gasket  .....Apparently the bike had not been ridden for a long time and had sat around......For further info I am willing to talk via PM.... :kuda:

just my 2 cents wasabi
low ks wins most of the time .... no question... ie resale down the track and maintenace issues
however what other signs do you look for
disc wear , chain , tyres ,forks
has the bike been played with check screws /bolts ...
and for any other obivious tampering or repair work
paint work fairings ... there are tell tale signs if you look
all bikes have imperfections , just depends if you can live with them
or how much it will cost to remedy

buy once your satisfied ....and happy to part with youre hard earned
youre in the starting gate
and enjoy the ride

cheers mick
