a memory comes to mind....
My dad is an old rider from way back.. but not ridden for 30 years now...
I rang him one day to tell him i bought a bike (after having my licence for years and years and growing up on bikes) ....
and his words were 'Why did you go and do something stupid like that for?'

Didn't tell mum or dad until after i had my license and a bike at 24. Mum was a bit nervous but just asked that i was careful (i'm not sure what she would have said if i got my L's at 18), dad was less than enthusiastic about the whole thing, but that went nowhere towards stopping/deterring me.

Doing that 2 days ls course is awesome for most people I think - she's probably gonna get hooked because it's so exciting learning to ride!!!!
Has she got a roadbike to ride yet?

Eldest son got his L's November 08; first few months he had to ride with me (Omeo, Adelaide, Lake Mountain etc). Comes a time you've done all you can, and you just have to trust them. Ride with them, give them advanced training for birthday/Christmas presents, show them how to maintain the bike themselves... but get used to worrying a bit.
But nothing beats touring with your kids
