Re: Top Victorian traffic cop caught speeding!
put himself on a pedestool?
its his job to say that to the public
do you stay in a job for 30+ years and then leave because the job requires you to say something that might make you a hypocrite?
im sure its all personal and those bad boys are out to get you because they dont like you and theyre bad people.
i cant stand it when people get caught doing the wrong thing and its never their fault.

Re: Top Victorian traffic cop caught speeding!
There's no way in hell that was his first offense in however many years.
I would be absolutely amazed if it's even the first time he's been caught disobeying the road rules, but for sure he has many times and just not been caught.
More than likely he has on numerous occasions but because he's a cop he just gets away with it.
When I was a fair bit younger and working in security, I knew and used to knock around with a young cop, and the shit he'd do, fcuk. The idea that all cops are perfect is complete shit.
Power corrupts or some shit like that.
The vast majority are dodgy in one way or another. But that's ONLY my opinion, which means sweet F A, to everyone but me.

Clay you don't know for sure about that. I have had only one fine, touch wood, since 1973 although had a few before that as a lot of young guys do..hehehe. It was boxing day morning in 1986 about 3am near Port Macquarie.clay wrote:There's no way in hell that was his first offense in however many years.....
I may have my lapses but in the norm TRY to stick close to the limit particularly in built-up areas. Since 1997 I would have done 500k kms in my own cars and quite a few in work cars so it's not as if I sit at home all the time.
Wasn't going to tempt fate but can't help myself some times...hehehe

Re: Top Victorian traffic cop caught speeding!
But I'm guessing you've gone over the speed limit on other occasions where you simply haven't been caught? Or maybe ran a red, didn't come to a complete stop at a stop sign? Or maybe been sweet to drive but would've blew over the limit should you have been breath tested? Or didn't wear your seatbelt? And so on...
That's the point I'm making, for sure he would've done one of these, or all of these things on some occasion and just never been caught. Or had been caught but let off because he's a cop.
By the way, good on you. I wish I could be as diligent as you when it comes to obeying the road rules, would've saved me some money over the years.

Re: Top Victorian traffic cop caught speeding!
Yeah mate not saying that I don't do things I shouldn't but using a bit of sense tells you when to tone it down a bit.
BTW Since 1973 have NEVER driven when drinking, not wearing a seat belt or run a red light. Stupid things like that will surely get you fined. I saw the introduction of the breathaliser and saw a mate get caught because some other nut turned across in front of him. I also started rallying when I was 17 and would not drive a car if I couldn't wear a seat belt.
All I'm saying is that if you pick your time and place to extend your legs a bit than you reduce the chance of attracting attention. I have also had my opportunities to push the limits - rallying, kart racing and now track days and these are a great time to *go hard* and not have to worry about cops let alone traffic coming the other way.
I'm also lucky that I have chosen to live in rural NSW so far away, most of the time, from the big smoke and it law enforcers.

Re: Top Victorian traffic cop caught speeding!
I've ran more reds since getting my bike license than ever.
So many times I find myself sitting at a red light that just won't bloody change. I mean like 5mins plus, no shit, and still its red. So I just hook it. Touch wood, safe so far.
Must be the bike or something just doesn't set off the sensor like a car does.

Re: Top Victorian traffic cop caught speeding!
Another thing about living in the bush...few traffic lights.
Must admit as I get older I have less patience for traffic like in Sydney. Hate that you have to pay so much attention to traffic lights, *safety* cameras, other nutters in cars/trucks/bikes and on foot, pot holes...leaves no time at all to checkout the sheilas particularly in summer.

Haha, yeh can't wait.
I'm tempted as to get one before I have my fulls but I'd be spewing if I got caught, or worse, had a crash.
