Last Saturday night i was presented with my life membership badge after being told of my nomination and voted on at the AGM the prior Thursday night (Along with my great mate and cobber, Michael Nash). To be honest it was one of the most emotional and humbling nights of my life. After 21 years of being a member of the Ballarat Rovers MCC and to be nominated and then voted in by your peers as one of the select few to recieve life membership is truely humbling.
I remember as a 14 year old kid joining as a senior memebr of the BRMCC and seeing the life membership board thats proudly displayed in our clubrooms and knowing one day i wanted to have my name on there. Over the years that thought never left my mind but still never really thinking it would be, after all i have put in alot over the years but never seeing it as work but as another chance to have fun with or another beer with people i proudly call mates.
To be truthful i still don't think it has sunk in and i know i can never live up to the guys that built the club up from nothing. From an idea bandied about over a kitchen table (not 300 meters from where i grew up) nearly 60 years ago the club has grown to the best club in Australia (Yes KSRC is a very close second). The Life Membership badge i recieved is probably the smallest in size of any trophy/award i have ever won but means more than any race win or state title i have buy far.
Anyway, thats the serious side gone. I still am what i am, THE WILD CHILD OF KSRC AND BRMCC, You want the title, come get it

I may not post all the time but i'm still here so watch ya mouth Seiko
