From the Police website
Two motorcyclists die in separate crashes
Saturday, 31 Oct 2009 05:05am

Two motorcyclists died in separate crashes in Sydney and on the Central Coast yesterday.

About 4.30pm, a 44-year-old man was riding along Lady Game Drive at Lindfield when he attempted to avoid a car which had slowed to let a group of ducks cross the road and hit a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.

The motorcyclist was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital for emergency surgery but was pronounced dead shortly before 7pm.

Lady Game Drive was closed in both directions for about 90 minutes as investigators from North Shore Local Area Command examined the scene.

The female driver of the other car was also taken to hospital for mandatory blood testing.

Police will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.

The second crash occurred shortly after 7pm on the Old Pacific Highway at Mount White.

A motorcycle rider aged in his early 20s was travelling north when he left the road and crashed into a railing on the side of the road.

Several motorists stopped to assist and called emergency services but the man was pronounced dead on arrival at Gosford Hospital.

The road was closed while officers from Brisbane Water Local Area Command examined the scene.

They will include all their findings in a report for the Coroner.

Statistics will now show that both incidents were speed related and the Lindfield motorcyclist was travelling on the wrong side of the road..........

I concur smithy, seriously I know when you see something in front you don't think of looking in your rear view mirror before slamming on the breaks but seriously people should even to see if a car is up your bum.

Condonlences to both families. Richo, Boozatboo and I actually were going for a night ride up the ol road last night to Terrigal for dinner and had to turn around and go up the freeway, man does it leaves chills up your spine when you hear about it when your on the bike

I don't like hearing of deaths on the road either, but what if it were a child crossing the road? We all have a responsibility to be travelling at a distance where we can safely stop if the vehicle in front performs an emergency stop. On this one the cage may have braked without good cause, but not the cages fault the bike was too close or going too fast to avoid an accident.

I have to agree with Mike... it is our responsibility to keep ourselves in as safe a situation as we can.

This is very true Mr Mike and it's funny cause I thought of that too, I was like dam dude you would have to have been pretty close and going pretty fast, also it is one thing they do teach you when you go for your L's to buffer at a safe distance with the cars in front so yeah I do agree on that count to, just horrible he had to pass away. Please all be safe out there.

no doubt the first three years of riding is where you are likely to become mince meat...he sounded like a young kid, 20yo etc.

I dont know how I survived my first 3 years but I did and now feel very comfortable now I have been riding for 8 years on the road, it does take a while to become wise to shit that happens on the road nowadays..and yes it is our responsibilty to keep ourselves out of harms way, even if there is a dickhead doing the wrong thing in front or behind us..
