I nearly ran Willy Thorn over once - Snooker champion in the 80s. I was on a moto-X bike riding from my parents house to the local woods (500m), there was a BMW parked on the side of the road, and as I launched my MX bike, Mr Thorn open his door and stepped out. I thought a CR250 was louder than that

The people who owned the house opposite my parents also owned a snooker hall that Willy Thorn was playing at. I was friends with their daughter, so a few of us got to lose at snooker that afternoon.

Me & Slighty after he binned it chasing the Go-Show through Siberia.
Amazingly he was pretty cool for a bloke that just tossed away his only shot at a world championship. I would have had the shit's and told autograph hounds to fuggorf

Oooh, I met Aaron Slight! well.... I stood riiiiiiiight next to him.
Awesome rider, I think the only rider to win a WSBK race after a brain tumor :)
I have met another famous Kiwi rider whose name escapes me right now, but he is usually in the top 5 at the Isle of Man TT.

I dont generally pay a lot of attention to famous people, the only way I generally notice is when people point and stare.... There are plenty of local celebs around south melbourne including neighbours stars, movie stars, supermodels. Which reminds me of the time I met Elle McPherson, but that is a story for another time.
The world is round. It has no point.

I will give you a call tomorrow some time.

I only recognise famous people when they are on the telly. When they aren't i wouldn't know who they are...

Then again not really having met (m)any hasn't helped that either.

It was xmas 1980, and I was on holiday in QLD at what is now called schoolies week on the Gold Coast. At the time, I was one of the first guests at the Greenmount Resort at Coolangatta,

Greenmount Resort? Is that a good resort???
