Yahoo! shuts down GeoCities
October 27, 2009 - 10:42AM

Yahoo! has closed GeoCities, a free web hosting service that it purchased for over $US3 billion ($3.25 billion) at the height of the dot-com boom.

Yahoo! announced the planned closure of GeoCities early this year, saying it was "increasing investment in some areas while scaling back in others."
GeoCities was founded in 1994 as Beverly Hills Internet and bought by Yahoo! during the infamous dot-com boom in Silicon Valley.

I still have my ' KSRC Geocities' link tshirt :twisted:

it was located in that home to capitalism (and profit and greed)....the USA

Oh, this is one of those times i both was wondering when it would happen, and also figured that it'd never happen as it's been there "forever".
