Yep, the KLR is a great bike - are they on the Qld LAMS list?

They are also VERY capable on long distances, comfy and can carry the weight no problem.

Have you looked at a second hand KLE. They are a bit more road focused than the KLR and give you two cylinders instead of one. The engine is the same as the ER5 from memory. They are LAMS approved in NSW but don't know in QLD. Worth a look.
