wipeout 1986 gpx750
hi all as some of you know i bourt my 86 model gpx750 back in june it had some issues that i finally over come i striped this baby back to a frame a then went right through it without going into sermantics with what i done as most of u would know if u have an old bike it finished up looking shit hot. so i took it to my first ride day last weekend at winton got through most of my seasons till my front wheel sleeped from under me on the strat sending me into the bechanam at a 110klm slidding the bike on one side then flipping it over to the other side to finish it off. meen while im still slidding on my side then on my ars working out where im going to get new plastics for the old girl as you can imagine it now needs them. cheers nick

Plastics are hard to come by, I know. There is a place that sells replacements but not painted http://www.handcraftfibreglass.com/

Re: wipeout 1986 gpx750
Not entirely sure you could call a 16" front wheel stable smitty mine had some work done on the front including removing the stupid anti dive set up and going back to conventional damping and it was just OK in the front end i'm not saying they don;t steer as they do but i'm not sure you could classify them as stable in any way the last track day I did on mine was at mallala and i had the front tyre snowplowing through turn one lap after lap sure it never actually sat me on my arse but it was sliding through turn one every lap a good mate switched to a 17" wheel on his and this sorted the front end in terms of stability i used to find the biggest challenge was suspension on the old gpx's the standard stuff is less than average and after two laps it would turn to mush but with some spring and damping mods they certainly do improve dramatically I also hope that this small paragraph without punctuation marks has made it's point tooSmitty wrote:curious about how the front end went away .....coz the GeePeeXers had awesome front endsnickprilly wrote:hi all as some of you know i bourt my 86 model gpx750 back in june it had some issues that i finally over come i striped this baby back to a frame a then went right through it without going into sermantics with what i done as most of u would know if u have an old bike it finished up looking shit hot. so i took it to my first ride day last weekend at winton got through most of my seasons till my front wheel sleeped from under me on the strat sending me into the bechanam at a 110klm slidding the bike on one side then flipping it over to the other side to finish it off. meen while im still slidding on my side then on my ars working out where im going to get new plastics for the old girl as you can imagine it now needs them. cheers nick
