Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. will start shifting production of medium-sized and large motorcycles to Thailand from Japan from 2010 because of cheaper labor costs, the Yomiuri newspaper said today.
WTF!

Is it like Bali where the factory workers take stuff from the factory and sell it on the side? May have to head to Phuket with a really REALLY large suitcase ;) :kuda:

I hope the quality of the bikes isn't affected too much. So with all the money Kawasaki saved they should have a MotoGP/WSBK championship winning bike by 2012?!?

All of the Kawasaki cruisers are made in the USA and some of the smaller fun bikes are made in Malaysia or Indonsesia. For the last few years of the KX60's existance that was also made in Indonesia or Malaysia as well.
Honda sold that piece of shit 150cc two stroke NSR150??? or what ever that was also made some where in South East Asia.
Most engine companies are using China and India for production as well.
Remember, half the people you know are below average.

Everything, but 1 item, I sell in the stores is made in China/Taiwan/asia and the quality reflects the price that you want to pay, you'd be surprised how much of your commodore/falcon is made overseas. The Chinese/asians will make things to the quality level (and hence the price) that you specify, so as long as quality control is monitored the quality of the bikes shouldn't decrease. In theory the quality should go up as the labour cost go down there should be some room for increase specs/quality if they are to maintain the same wholesale/retail price, in theory that is

I know a lot of engine parts for Suzuki have been made by the company that now makes Hyosung for years... And they are in Korea...

The NSR150 was made in Thailand and truly it was a piece of shite .

I hear the factory has left over floor space and there is another Big 4 Japanese manufacturer interested. Rumours say they are going to scale up the NSR and it'll be the new ZX-10R .
