[quote="dave#3]Surely you couldn't rock up and take somebody's property (even if you suspect it's not theirs) without proving that you're a police officer and not some two-bit thief (who happens to look like doughnut man) can you?. I'm talking about a badge and a serial number, not your photo ID.

No, but it sounds like a great idea!! Mate, when I rock up in uniform, with my radio, gun and Police bike, there's rarely any need for me to show ID. ;)

Having said that, our ID numbers are clearly visible for all who want to see them.

Obviously they do things differently in Mexico.

Yeah for the little people !!! It never hurts to try, and the worst thing that could happen was they said no. Good outcome. Maybe you weren't the first to complain about their process and they had enough complaints to actually take action.

What really happened was, they'd seen pics of Dave in his bondage gear and that famous hat of his and shat themselves at the thought of him rolling up on their doosteps.... ;)

Ive only met one prick officer in melbourne, all of the others have been either professional or downright curtious.

I Just treat them with the same respect I would expect them to give me.... If someone rang my work and treated me the way I hear some people treat coppers they would soon find their mailbox deleted, except for the mail sent to their boss calling him a tosser and offering their resignation...
The world is round. It has no point.
