Tracky Insurance

Post by Glen »

Does anyone out there insure their tracky?

Given that I've put a bit of dough into this I thought I'd suss out insurance. It turns out I can insure it against theft, fire and accident damage in transit ie while it's on a trailer for $229 a year with Shannons. Obviously I'm not covered for any damage while riding it, but for $229 at least I'm protected if some shit pinches it from my garage, or the pits at a track day or from it's trailer etc or if it gets burnt or falls off the trailer or some uninsured twat runs up the back of the trailer.

Not bad I think.

Actually he was only saying on Friday that he wanted to paint his 636 in the same, very rare and exclusive colour scheme as yours, only he didn't think you'd appreciate it :D

For those that Shannon's won't touch (ie, young people) you can also insure trackies through:

a) Famous Motor Insurance; or
b) JLT.

JLT offer discounts for MA licence holders.

That's correct apart from the Saki Z Special the 600FT is in a league of its own, but my sanity also prevailed after being heavily influenced by a certain female KSRC member to keep it team green 8)

Some insurance companies will insure you if you are being instructed in riding skills i.e Superbike School can be covered! but you are best to confirm this BEFORE you go! I have heard of one guy who did a course (I think Superbike School) and binned it, when he went to claim they said "On the track, bad luck!" and that was after he'd confirmed with them that he was covered! in the end it got a bit messy and took months but I'm pretty sure they paid out eventually (the Insurance company even "lost" his bike at one point! )
