But why should they, were they doing something wrong that the administrators thought worthy of taking up? I personally didn't think so but hey each to their own I guess.

It is not a matter of the way the site was going it was the way the site is, if the owners of the site want something different then end of story. Just would have thought you might quietly email the admins or the owners of such avatars and get their take on it first rather then grandstanding.

Hell I don't even have an avatar, might need to get a clean wholesome one :D .

I have to admit closing the lap top when the either miss 6.5 or miss 5 walk past ... the avatars/ colour / movement draws them in like magnets.... they always want the smilie box to come up so they can watch the animated ones move, I always have a half window that cuts off the whipped one etc

This is a public site & everyone is welcome to post what they want within reason & the colourful avatars have been fun but at the same time we don't want to portray the wrong message, so I am happy that Mick has bought up the subject & even happier that Ardy & Cath have made a change with no fuss.... makes me proud to be a member 8)

I don't see the issue in what Mick is asking. Knowing the 3 people involved, I'm sure they'd have hardly battered an eyelid at the request.

Just for the record, Billy is away at the moment, so you'll have to wait for him to get back before you get an answer :D

Sure, why should we? We weren't breaking any rule. But by the same token, why shouldn't we? As Mick said - he asked. If he had've told... well, it would've been a long, fun trainwreck of a thread that would've degenerated into many NWS pics, and finally monkey porn

If I had a problem with what Mick posted, I would've either PM'd him privately, or responded here to discuss it.
He made a polite request. I read it, thought about it, and decided to remove my avatar (though I reserve the right to start a labelled NWS thread to show off the rest of my avatars that I had lined up for rotation  ). Isn't that how a friendly community operates?

FWIW, I happen to agree with him for several reasons:
1) There's plenty of places online where you can see pics like that (including threads here), so it's no trauma to not have them in avatars
2) It seems like it's only fairly recently that we've had avatars with that level of explicitness, so the concern about the way the site was going was very valid
3) We have a long-standing tradition of posting "(NWS)" in a thread title if it contains images that aren't work safe. Having NWS avatars defeats the purpose of that long-standing tradition

Grandstanding??? I'm not seeing it
And if Mick had've emailed the admins to ask me to remove my avatar, I would've felt awful. I know Mick well enough that I'd expect direct contact (either by PM, or the way he did it here) and would be weirded out if he felt the need to use an intermediary for such a mild request. And by putting it here, he doesn't have to send 3 PMs, plus it opens the subject up for discussion.

Why is his polite request bothering you so much that you felt the need to be insulting?
If it's because you were soooooo disappointed that you wouldn't get to see the next avatar pic I had ready... well, I'll PM you the link when I post up all my NSW sexy boy bottoms

Mick, FWIW I think it's a fair enough request... Billy and Ardy posting together was not something I wanted my boss to catch on my work computer screen  I liked Cath's recent avatars... probably more for it not being something you see very often on a motorcycle forum :D
