Newbie with ZX12R and a few noob questions
Hi,
After owning a Firestrom for the last 2.5 years I've just snapped up a 2002 Black&Gold ZX12R with low kms and no mods. Its my second kwaka, the first being a zzr-250, which was also my first bike. Anyway, I've owned it for two days and haven't had a chance to ride it in the dry yet which is frustrating to say the least.
But I really like what I've seen so far.
I have a few questions regarding this bike:
1) How do you secure your helmet to the bike? I've looked under the pillion seat and I don't see any hooks there...
2) Can anyone recommend a good bike mechanic in the Parramatta/Castle Hill area? Im basically looking for someone who can offer good workmanship and Kawasaki knowledge. Are the guys at Granville Kawasaki good? Im just looking for a place to do regular servicing and run of the mill repairs.
3) I also need to get the seat re-upholstered. Can anyone recommend a place?
I haven't put any pics up as everyone knows what a stock standard 12 looks like. I am however looking to do a few mods over the next couple of months, starting with changes to the pipe and fender (they standard ones are huge!) and indicators.
Once I get a good feel for the bike I'll look at suspension.
Thanks in advance.

Some bikes (im not sure about the 12, have hooks under the seat you put your helmet clasps over and then re-attach the seat. Have a look

12s come with a wire attachment system (its buried under the pilion seat)
refer to the Owners manuals Pg 45 and 46

Brad at BikeBiz always looks after me as well. A little dearer on the servicing sometimes but good quality.

Re: Newbie with ZX12R and a few noob questions
Read above paul, he stated KAWASAKI GRANVILLE, last time I checked that was MOFO that bought the old Paramatta KawasaKI & turned a good thing bad.shinnynoggon wrote:welcome,,,i don't have any problems with bikebiz at granville,,,,,they do good by me,,,,,oh and rob it's bikebiz not team mofo
& I cant deal with either BB or MF because of bad service issues, once bitten twice shy

But in saying that you are right, BB bought out MF.... but kept the same staff so its no go for me

Re: Newbie with ZX12R and a few noob questions
Thanks for the replies. Just read the owners manual and worked out the helmet hook thing.

Hi black12, weclome aboard mate.
Great bikes the 12, there are a few owners here who can help you out with good advice about what works and what doesn't with these bikes.
Any decent auto-upholsterer will be able to do your seat, they are pretty easy to re-cover.
Enjoy the ride - they are a really good bike once you get to know them well.

Re: Newbie with ZX12R and a few noob questions
Cheers. The guys at Bikebiz always seem friendly, Ive bought a lot of gear from them in the past and recently went along with a mate who bought a bike there(and you can always go wander around Westfields while the bike is being looked at which is convenient....) I've had a few average experiences at Action but it seems nobody has recommended the anyway.
Owned the 12 for 3 days now and still haven't had a chance to ride in the dry, just put-putting around locally and getting rained on, its mental torture really.

For service try Kelens at Penrith. They may be a bit out of your way but they do a good job and are very well priced.
Remember, half the people you know are below average.
