I've only ever ridden my 12 and never thought I'd want anything different till I took a tweaked 14 for a spin. It's the only bike that's really made me consider buying something different. I agree with blue on this.
Now my brother's threatening to buy a 14 as he knows I can't afford one. :x

Apples to Apples....
Give the 12 a tweek too and then compare.

My mates got a 14 and until recently always had a slight edge on me when racing side by side, a few more mods and now its not even close. I run at townsville nationals the other w/e dropped and extensions ran a 9.72@154 mph, would have gone quicker if it didnt run out of gearing 20-30 ft from the line and wasnt bottoming out when i launched  bolt-on mods only engines never been apart. I even still ran the standard headers, though modded slightly.

My 12 is teaked and has a custom map. But it's nothing compared to a tweaked 14. Tell your mate to remove the secondary butterflys on his 14 then compare ;)

I've never been able to compare, i rode his 14 already modded with flys out, pc3,muzzy slip-on,filters,ign. adv. with another bloke on a 12 chasing
and have pulled the flys on my 05 12 but havent ridden it on the street yet, the 02 12 doesnt have em.

Im surprised that you think that theres so much difference, though we havent run around much together on the road, mainly at a track down the 1/4 but too much launching from a standing start comes into the comparison then really, his bike is currently less modded and he is playing catch up, really just a pissing competition but its all good fun. ;)

You need to ride it on the road to appreciate the difference. When I pulled the secondary butterflies out, it made a very noticeable difference in top gear, when overtaking and too lazy to drop down any gears ... ;) - It just pulls like a train from <5k right through. With the flies still installed, you needed at least 7k on board to get it responding like that. Apparantly the flies don't even start to open until about 7k ?? Thats on my 05 MFP12....

Wow straight back into contraversy. I had a 05 tuned at LAE, Micron full system (which I still think is the better pipe) PCIII and BMC's, the 00 now, ditto to above but a Yoshi full and K&N's. I liked the 05 look colour and ram air set up better, the 00 seems to surge with a side wind (anyone else notice this?). They made virtually the same amount of maximum HP (Im not suprised when you really think about it). I have found the old chart tomorrow and compare it with the other I have to compare and post both but looking at the one in front of me they both make about about 115 at 2 seconds throttle. The bueatiful curves means it seem to wheelstand with the same smoothness and they both go ballsitic at 8000rmp. I dont know if James (can anyone tell me what he was called on here??) had anything done to the supension ? But it doesnt seem stiff and I am under 80kg andhe looked to be a big guy to me. The forks dont seem to have been dropped and it doesnt turn in like I remember the 05 doing (it was) so I am putting a new front tyre on first and the see if it still needs it. The brakes seem as good as the radials but I will be more concerned about maintaining the six potters. Seemed to do a pretty good stoppie the other day but the rear made an alarming clunk I will have to take a look at. (it IS 8 years old after all). I was going to put the entrie front end off the 05 on the 00 as I figured it would need pulling up more than the naked with less weight etc but Im not worried about it now. Was it mainly done for fashion, will a well maintained set of six pots out brake a poorly maintained radial, who knows ?
Oh and by the way Alex said whilst his dyno was bit ummm harsh ? that it was putting out about 178 unadjusted (as did the 05) but James had made 184 at ksrc dyno day sometime back ??
He alse had a blue turboed one in there, turboed and with nos in the hump.
FARK ME  Reckons you HAVE to be in 3rd before hitting the blue bottle
Gos if you do get NOS can I have go at the Island, PLEASE !!
We can swap bikes and report back with a definitve result. 8) At this point but I feel the 00 has the stronger motor off the bottom and middle. Ive ridden a couple of thous and bus's in the interveneing years but nothing has the top end hit of 12, STILL.

The 05 model had a set of secondary butterflies controlled by the computer above the original rider controlled ones.
It was to stop people cartwheeling them. Worked for most people
The 14 is the same. (but uglier)

OK checked the charts, they may as well be from the same bike.
'00/'05 better/worse  Same/same more like it.
BUT it does beg the question, correlation between dyno and seat of the pants.
The '00 sure as shit FEELS like it comes on way stronger (and maybe if we could zoom in down low on the chart it would show that) and I would swear James has original gearing on it too (I havent checked yet) where as the 05 was geared down a far bit both front and rear.
Guess a back to back is the only way eh Gos maaaayyyyttttteeeeee 8)
