Some pps talking about a school renunion (primary school)
Would you go to one? Already put my hand up to say no, ancient history as far as i'm concerned.

Re: Some pps talking about a school renunion (primary school)
Ok Ok, wot is it with all this reunion stuff . . . . this is doing my head in - especially as it has now also become a topic on the forum !
Part 1:
Well last week a delivery driver for metalwork subbie at work, walks over to me and recognises me. Says my name, and proceeds to remove his sunglasses. Interested yet?
Anyway, I recognise him and he's a friend who lived a few doors up from us when we were kids (him and his sisters, and me and my sisters) we spent all our time at their place playing their space invaders machine - which was a glass table one, just like at the milk bar. Anyway, needless to say why we literally lived at their place.
So finally, after my digressing . . . . it's been bout 20-22years since I have seen him, his sisters or family.
Part 2:
I receive a friend request on FB (facebook) and when I looked at her profile I find that it's a friend from - wait for it . . . primary school
I follow different links, and come across a page for my highschool . . . and my year
Anyway over the last 2days I've already spoken (via msn type of thing that is within FB), with 3x really really old friends, people I haven't spoken to or seen in 22years
AND to top it off, they are arranging a reunion this Sept - BAZAAR! To me, it's just soooooooooooo weird!
Part 3:
And NOW it gets mentioned on the KSRC forum
Some crazy, crazy stuff happening atm. . . Just straight outta left field! Mmmmm maybe there's a hidden message - but wot is it? Huh, I have no idea.

Re: Some pps talking about a school renunion (primary school)
After leaving school I only ever caught up with 1 school mate in over 15 years. While I had some really good friends at school (I went to an all boys private school) I came from a different background (my dad was a truckdriving, motorcycle racer and my school mates fathers varied from lawyers, journalists, politicians, rails bookmakers to doctors)I also lived on the "other side of the tracks". I maintained the friends I had before going off to the private school and i preferred the shit they did on weekends to that of my school mates. I occassionally saw someone from school when out but it was just a "g'day" how you going type interaction. Then I got an invitation to my 20 year HS reunion. I went with some trepidation but I've got to say it was one of the best nights out I've ever had. Just over 100 people turned up and I recognised all bar 2 guys straight away - quite bizarre i thought! I have little desire to catch up with any of them currently but I'm really looking forward to my 25 year reunion.
And another one - my dad is in his mid 60's and has at least two good mates that he regularly catches up with from primary school. Does anybody else have friendships that stretch that far back?

Re: Some pps talking about a school renunion (primary school)
I pretty much lost contact with everyone when i left college early and went to tafe. It was further distanced by my moving 3 years later from Canberra to Sydney.
Personally i wouldn't bother going to one again, past is the past, and there's only two or three people from back then i'd even bother meeting up with again.

Re: Some pps talking about a school renunion (primary school)
I lost contact with everyone I went to school with, probably mostly because I dropped out early and moved to Sydney, except for one girl, who now lives in Wagga so we don't catch up very often. Canberra being Canberra I see some of them around the place but nothing more than to say g'day kinda thing.
A lady I used to work with in Sydney is in her 60's and regularly caught up with a group of friends that she called her "kindergarten friends"! Now that is a long time to have remained friends!
I probably would have gone to a reunion - if there has been one - I never heard anything about it, would be interesting to see where everyone is now.

Re: Some pps talking about a school renunion (primary school)
My high school year had a reunion recently.
I had a couple of schools (so's to speak) of thought on it.
1) I hadn't caught up with any of them since I left school, so why should I bother now? I was your typical school nerd. Into computers when computers didn't even really exist to half of them and covered with pimples. I never really got along with any of them, bar a couple. Those I did want to catch up with, I already did.
2) Maybe I should go to see how many of them had become deadbeat balding fat no hopers?
3) As it turned out Casey's 1st birthday and my Dad's 50th were both on that same weekend and Sally and I ended up at the hospital with Casey anyway.
Suffice to say, I didn't go.
If I was a single man who hadn't had any luck working my stuff in the frozen food section of the local Coles, it might be worth it. Other than that, I'm not so sure. It seems to me that it's just an excuse for people to gloat/make out how great they are doing.

Re: Some pps talking about a school renunion (primary school)
I have best buddies which stretches out since primary ... in fact everytime coming back to my tiny hometown I make the effort to see them. Very intriguing as their profession stretches from pickpockets to doctors to govmt officials
.. and yes the bullies get to do the former
.. friends are the next best thing after family. Some are motorcycle maniacs too and we get to ride around places. This is what we did in uni years, not sure how's uni life here...

Obviously I love my school reunions

I've really enjoyed catching up with my old school mates on FB.
Interesting to see how everyone has turned out.
DO IT Mick!

Lost touch with most my school mates when I moved to Aust. However have since caught up with a number of them again when I've found out they're living over here too

Re: Some pps talking about a school renunion (primary school)
I did all my schooling in melb before making the move up here to Sydney. I went back a couple of times to catch up with mates but only found that we'd all become very different people or "grown apart" as they say. It was a bit of fun catching up back then but haven't spoken to any of them for a few years now.
I say go for the reunion, everyone has different experiences and you might find yours to be a great one! Ya never never know if ya never never go!!
