Riding the 12 round yesterday afternoon . headed into Newcastle at the end of the ride and noticed that the clutch cable was feeling really lose.
at the lights the clutch was barely working. had the front brake on clutch lever against the handlebar and the whole bike was shuddering,
pulled over and adjusted the cable until the friction point was at a reasonable point. this also meant that the cable is tightened as far as it can go. everything was fine until about 15 minutes later and had the same problem again.
clutch barely engaging with lever against the handlebar again. had to boot it to upshift and boot it even harder for downshifts.
im hoping this is a cable problem.
any ideas?

Re: zx12r clutch problems
1st check th cable to ensure it isn't just frayed and coming apart slowly. However it sounds like the clutch is farked. Maybe something in the clutch basket has failed or perhaps the clutch input rod is worn or popped out?

Farkin lazy today arnt I
Heres one for you marty I had a baviarian K1 lost the clutch.... could not get drive.... last place to look there was a rock wedged between the actuating arm & Crankcase..... did I mention having the bike towed
So a quick check of the cable & its routing to check for the condition of the cable failing that, as Marty has said it could be a clutch problem such as cracks in the outer clutch cover... they take up the slack then open up from the spring pressure...(had one reciently on the outfit)

Re: zx12r clutch problems
well after a few promising kms on the way to work this morning the clutch completely shat itself
not even a hint of clutch.
fun when youre in heavy traffic and youre stuck behind a rav 4 that decideds to do 30km/h under the speed limit and stop at the faintest sign of an orange light.
Kwaka Newcastle will be round shortly to pick it up
i heard pinging noises coming from down low on the bike.
if it is the clutch well and truly farked what is a good replacement aftermarket clutch?
