Yes I think some of the figures look a bit odd..
In particular Glens and Watties, Gixxer Daves looked a bit low.
The z1000 was pretty high compared to the 9's too..
Compared to our previous dyno day the comparatve numbers are quite different.

My 10 - 180 and 126m.n
750 - 131 and 77m.n

To give an example at our last dyno day we had
3 x 04/05 zx10rs all with 153 to 155 rwhp
07 zx10r - 161 hp
Z1000 - 123 hp
98 ZX9r (with 110,000ks) - 131hp
zxr750r - 112 hp
had my 10 on the same dyno a month back - 168 hp

yeah, after calculating the hp fig to "at the wheel" my figure was a poorly 152hp.. which was strange considering i'd had the gixxer on a different dyno (Love MC at waitara) about 5 months ago (just after getting the cams replaced under warranty) and the hp figure was a healthy 158 there and on the same day a stock 05 zx10 was tested and returned a 152hp, which was only 1hp less than my missus' stock GSXR with 153hp... so i was wondering what was up when i read 152 on flywheels dyno... but we all know every dyno is different..

last year at the island, there was some dyno machine set up out in the carpark and i thought i'd stick the gixxer on and see what it did... i got a number of 140 - whatever that meant... and a CBR1000 with a pipe and probably PC3 went on after me and did a 130 (which had something of a dampening effect on the owner's enthusiastic mood just prior... ) which surprised me given the difference.. so i asked the guys to give me the crank figure and i was told it was around the 174 mark... bloody dynos!

From my experience .... which is limited, dynos are varied at best with result comparisons often leaving you scratching your head.
My bikes been dynoed twice, the first time when it was first modded with 8k on it 181, the second time the same shop had a different dyno and the same spec bike with an extra 10k on it made 173. Odd considering i would have thought it would have punched out bigger numbers after being a bit looser.

i agree, so many factors come in to play with dyno results, such as, the type and brand of dyno, meters above sea level, weather on the day ie temp and humidity and very importantly the dyno opperator can all affect the big number alot. this is why you see that small print next to any factory power and torque figures that says something like measured under factory controled conditions.

Just imagine how much worse it must have been in that little box especially after Dave's ZXR spewed smoke everywhere! As Gixxerdave was the last one on the dyno and it was about 31 degrees when he got here, that would explain why his reading seemed a bit low

The dyno room has A/C but if you run it all day it gets cold enough (because of all the insulation) to damn near freeze the fuel! It's not pleasant being that cold all day so we didn't use it. Ron also underestimated the amount of people who would show up and therefore things were a bit higgeldy piggeldy with no set plans We really wanted to keep everything relaxed and low key for the whole day which I think we achieved. I would love to see all the readouts from a controlled test though with temperature and humidity control...

Fark me if you guys had to pay for it I could only imagine what you would be saying...

Flywheels obviously were doing us a favour and themselves by doing the dyno runs so don't fuggin upset them because your bikes got some irregular results. Hopefully they will be kind enough to run another dyno day and you can compare your results then.

We don't want our contributing sponsers think we are an ungrateful mob.

Hey boys and girls. My '00 zx6 (not '99!!) peaked a 106.4 @ 13007 and 63.7 Nm @ 10400 stock. Just put my two brothers can on and she sounds a treat. Cath, we're gonna have to see next time who really has the better sound now . Did I end up winning the award for quietest bike? Or did someone bring a 125 in ?

Last Dyno on the 14. 175RWHP with 105nm of torque.. Will get the flies removed soon and remapped, so will be interesting to see if there is any improvements..
