Fairing Bolt Kits - Are They Worth It?

Post by Bogan »

There are fairing bolt kits on eBay from overseas for about $50, they come with all nice dome headed bolts and I suppose an allen key or two, and they maybe even come in green for that extra blingy look (or I could get blue, or silver, or anything really). Would they be worth it or should I just go to my local bolt shop and it will work out cheaper?

Anyone bought one or have an opinion?

They look pretty! I've been considering them for the six...

Seen a guy at the Robertson Pie Shop with the black special edition 10 and he had all the fairing bolts in red... looked awesome!

I bought some for my ZX7R they were ok, but because they were made out of alloy the smaller ones had a habit of stripping out the slot for the allen key in the head of the bolts.
I would prob try and get some stainless steel ones from a bolt shop nest time.

Thanks Craig, I can do without green ones if it's that cheap, pretty stainless stuff will do me just fine.

This is the one I was looking at and it's stainless:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... :IT&ih=005" target="_blank" target="_blank

And tastynuts only have alloy ones:

Alloy Fairing Kit Kawasaki ZXR750 J/K (1991-1992) Ref: FKA230b
Include the necessary bolts, washers and nuts to replace the entire fairing bolts including belly panel, seat unit and mud guard. Also included are Anti-scratch bodywork washers, sleeving, pro-lube and allen keys.
Please note that Screen Kits are sold separately

Stainless option might be OK after all depending on price?

OK so they have the stainless ones which I assume are only available in silver:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/KAWASAKI-ZXR250- ... dZViewItem" target="_blank

40 quid including postage.

Or they have anodised ones in colours, aluminium though:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/KAWASAKI-ZXR250- ... dZViewItem" target="_blank

Two pounds extra, but aluminium, but coloured.

Stainless better (less chance of breakage or head rounding)? Or if I use the copper grease and a good allen key socket then I should be OK with the heads and I can bling away in green to my heart's content?

Errr
Standard Kawasaki fairing screws - the domed type, phillips head and generally painted black.
They are stainless steel. Go find a buffing wheel and polish up the ones you already have. Much cheaper.
I got a sweater for my birthday. I realy wanted a moaner or a screamer.

Gotta be worth 2 seconds a lap hasn't it?
