Most generally just don't get it. I think people who don't ride bikes just see them as a more dangerous form of transport than a car.

They don't understand that most of us ride because we want to, not because we have to.

Point out, like I do, that I feel safer on my bike than I do in a car. At least on the bike I've got space and therefore room to avoid shit.
