Ive had several variations of the Temp aussie, organ donor blah blah yak yak woof woof from the, sanctimonious to the downright annoying

"Oh my, motorbikes are so dangerous, look at all the bones youve broken"

I have a standard response

Yes thanks, Ill keep in mind how dangerous Motorcycles are as I think about the amount of times some FUCKING IDIOT IN A CAR HAS RUN INTO ME

NB: if you werent sure, yes this particular question *REALLY* pisses me off

Very interesting. Apparently there's no easy answer to the question. One that makes the questioner envy the questionee.

Organ donor hey .. now that's bit harsh.

Probably "it's nice out there" would work ? Especially when the weather's drab and cold like the past 2 days

Nope, they have NFI basically, I often come back with something like " No argument if I get in a stack there's a reasonable chance i'll come off worse on a bike than I would if I were in a car in the same accident, having said that, I have far better braking, acceleration, manouverability and vision on a bike than I do in a car so my chances of avoiding the stacjk altogether are far higher, to top it off I have the option of countersteering too... then of course you'll need to explain to cager exactly wtf counter steering is and it's benefits...

Spot on Mick. I spend plenty of hours and thousands of km's on a bike seat every year, and in just about every weather condition imaginable, and I often have to ride on the wrong side of the road, or in peoples blind spots deliberatley.

At the end of the day, it's all about your attitude.

1.During peak hour it is hard to be hit by a stationary car
2. It is probably the only thing these days that does not cause cancer.
3. It is not as dangerous as asking stupid questions.
Remember, half the people you know are below average.

yea but these are too often used, so they have no "punch"

we kno why we do it, peter garrett once say "its better to die on ur feet than live on ur knees" (and he wasnt referring to mina's sexual perversian)... make it clever...

i like that one from above but im gunna add to it...

(Background info for those who dont know me well: I was deliberately attacked by a horse when I was 20, almost resulting in my demise  )

My mum's first words upon me deciding to get my licence were "No! It's too dangerous!"
My response was "hmm, lets see, I have never heard of a bike kicking someone in the kidney." :x
She has never said it to me again, but no doubt thinks it to herself (its a mum thing,I think :) )

Nearly every member of my extended family has asked me "but isn't it dangerous?" at some point in the last 5 years. To them I usually say "yes it is; I've seen how you drive."
I used to have a handle on Life,

Matt, that's a great read, exactly the situation. Not only that many gives me the question, they now also ask the wife the same question... as in "you letting him do that ??!" - referring to my last sydney trip :o

Mohawk, that's gold.. I'll keep that in mind.
