Not true. It takes a little bit of time to go below the point of no return. If you quickly put the clutch back in it comes back. Yeah, I've been silly and forgotten the stand...

really?? every bike ive ever ridden over the last say ...10yrs has had a side stand switch..and i reckon all of em have stalled as soon as u kick the stand past a certain level...and most wont start while in gear....

On the GPX250 both the sidestand and starter cutouts rely on the clutch lever switch, so only when you begin to release the clutch does it cut the ignition. If you have some revs and you're doing a slow start it's not hard to put the clutch in before the revs drop too low. The GPX250 seems to have a fair bit of flywheel effect (I don't want to call it a heavy flywheel because the crankshaft is actually what has most of the inertia), so it doesn't die or rev quickly.

ok..well the zed stalls as soon as u put the stand down past about halfway, even with the clutch fully engaged....

the blade did the same...

theres no "saving it"
