Just out of interest, these private contractors who operate speed cameras, how is their renumeration calculated? Are they paid a set hourly/daily/weekly rate? Or......is it incentive based?

i'd gather the former perhaps with a bonus if they get x amount of suckers^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hinfringements MAYBE. Then again they could be told to cover a certain region, but you can't quantify peoples stupidity, so it'd all be a gamble.

well my point was mr plod, that the corners preceeding, and after that location are safe to do at 100kph- which is the old limit... so if u do the old limits- ur still 20kph over the new limit..which costs ya a bit.... and ur still safe...

also the house while it IS there, its set back from the road a fair way...with a long driveway, and ANY attentive rider would see a car going down said driveway and pre-prepare just in case...

Fornitghly wage. They go where they get told. Incentive based renumeration with regards to this type of employment would only lead to rampant corruption.

I used to live less that 400 metres from the Adelaide airport, and on the top floor of a block of units, directly underneath the incoming flightpath. We had a red light on our roof which was a part of the runway lights.

I used to love sitting on the balcony watching the planes come in.

.....and Daisy that reminds me of when they make racetracks out in the middle of nowhere, population booms mean they build closer and closer to said tracks, then cause of the new homeowners noise complaint "about that stinky racing track being too noisy for little joe to sleep in the middle of the day" and it getting shut down etc..

Shame they cant put a "there first" legislation into the works so that if you build or buy too close to an existing racetrack/airport/dragway its your own stupid fault your copping the noise.

I'll say. There was a local MX track here, that used to be called 'KarmaGutza' , now called Fairbairn Park. Wayne Gardner cut his teeth racing junior MX meetings there back in the early 70's. Well across the border in Struggletown (aka Queanbeyan), the local council back in 1884 in its wisdom decided to open a housing development up on a hill, but over the border by a few hundred metres, directly in view of said MX track , ( that had previously operated unhindered and introduced 100's of local kids into MX) - of course, as soon as the well-heeled fuckwits moved into the new estate, the noise *shit* hit the fan...........Now the track is just a shadow of its former self. Maybe 1/2 dozen meetings if that per year.. . Its a joke, and the morons that moved there knew full well that they were moving within view of a well-used motorsport facility that had been used for >20 years before they moved into the neighborhood.

Now, the same stupid council is proposing another housing development, on the site of a former speedway (how ironic), and it is *directly under the major flight path* into Canberra Airport !!! How long do you think it will be until the whinging about the noise levels results in flight paths being redirected all over the place ???? Its a joke. All you hear on the radio is paid ads from the Millionaires Club (Canb. Airport v Building Co.).

This the old 1/8 mile strip to the east of the airport? or further out? as that was RIGHT on the airport boundary.
