sprocket sizing zx7r

Post by Yella »

Im going to get a 520 convertion for the 750 with the gearing at the moment (?/43) I find that its a little soft on acceration , not even knowing what is on the front yet ( I am thinking its stock what ever that is) , I was think of going +2 on the rear down 1 on the front the same as I did with my storm but not knowing this bike that well yet I figured I would ask the question

What are people running and what would that say is the best combo , most riding will be track and oxley trips (trailer upto Mt seaveiw and playing in the fun bits) ETC not looking for fuel economy just that punch that seems to be missing

Some one will, may as well be me............

TRADE IT IN!!!!!

Now...back to proceedings............... I wouldn't go two on the back with one down one the front! Bit TOO short methinks! Not sure what 750 it is, but I'd go one down on the front and leave the rear as is. :)

Drop one on the front and leave the rear std.
I believe 16 tooth is the standard front.

Heya,

as per the previous suggestions - id say, dont change anything and dont worry about going to the 520 either.

the difference of a 525 to a 520 on the 7... on the road, forget it. If your chasing half seconds on the track, get some lighter wheels first and then, and then, and then, after everything else go to the 520.

Ive got about 3 different sprocket sets (i think i still have em, might have chucked em out in the big 'move') and honestly nothing is better then the stock ratio's.

Id run stock, fell like a change, go to 1 down at the front, or 3 up on the rear (+3 on the rear needs a second chain)etc... get sick of basically riding around with only 5 gears, go back to stock, after a while forget how much i would get sick of the 'others' bust my ass trying to get that dam front sprocket nut off :) change it, get sick of it again real quick... change, change, change...arhhh

Stock is best IMO.

For under/ around 3K you can get the zx9r's engine into the 7. Ive found a mechanic near me who used to race the 7's, loves the 7's and has done 2x7/9 engine swaps. Dead stock your looking at around 20-30hp gains, with a little more work, you could get 40hp more then you have now... that is a LOT :)

If you do wont to change the sprockets, the guys at the chain gang are quite good. You can have them cut the sprockets to your liking/ styling.
