You can get them low.
You can get rid of your strips.
You can scrape the centre stand.
You can scrape the lower fairing.

Should you do all the above? Only if you feel ready, and avoid chunking the centre-stand too much - it's scary.
Making my stock ZZR600 do 2:04 around Eastern Creek I managed all of the above - but then I didn't really know how to hang off properly and keep the bike upright.
On the street I scraped either a footpeg or the centre stand every so often, but I always had strips.

Do what's good for you, and if you like the mechanics then laugh along with them - you'll live longer.
If you have no fear, you're not going fast enough.
Never argue with an idiot. He'll drag you down to his level, then beat you with experience.

The centre stand would scrape fairly easily wouldn't it? mine hasn't got one and having ground my side stand down to about half it's original size I now unbolt it when I get to the track, I have a stock engine in mine and I do fairly consistant 1:55 around Eastern creek occasionally dropping into 1:54, still a lot of places I can improve though!

:) I used to scrape the centre stand on my zzr600 regularly, particularly on the bumpier sections of Mt Mee (scared the shit outta me the first time!). Like others have said use your head and ride within your limits.
The ol ZZR6's have stacks of potential and the only time i came unstuck when I was being stupid and pulled into a gravel truck stop way too fast.

I finally remembered to do it!
so this is the right side of my rear tyre and I scrape my pegs when cornering on occasion, so I'm pretty confident I can't get it over anymore but there are still chicken strips there! that's a 5c coin I stuck there for reference

Yup, i did that on Putty, there was three of us, one in front me in the middle and my mate behind, he got stopped by the council (roadworks) i tried to catch first mate on his zzr1200 to slow him down to wait, i couldn't catch him and eventually decided to stop and wait for the second. Unfortunately i was going slightly too fast when i pulled into the dirt bay and locked my front and back trying to stop before the end of the bay and nearing embankment (down). I kept sliding over a small tree stump and stopped 5 inches from the roll down (my tyre was over the edge). I pulled the bike back and continued on my way, except for the fact i couldn't put my feet back on the pegs for the next 2 k's
