Is it legal to have something similiar but the writing "Pollies" or something. That would give me a wide berth for lane splitting me thinks.

Neither. I was on my Kwakka following these guys around.

I have just had 3 weeks holidays. The skin on the arse must have softened up when I wasn't on the bike.

Oh and did you guys have to stop oncoming traffic for this one?
It's the highway up to Coober Pedy. It's bloody boring. And yep, we ride out in front of the load and wave oncoming cars off of the road. You have to have your wits about you when you're riding on the wrong side of the road towards oncoming vehicles. It's hard work at the end of a 14 hour day.

Who manufactures those things.
PS rip that bloody front number plate off, that issue is dead and buried..for now anyway
Prominent Hill is about 80 kays south of Coober Pedy. I've attached a map. I think the tippers are manufactured in Whyalla. Not sure hwo by.
As for the front number plates, SA legislation was changed requiring Police bikes ot have them. God knows why.

otherwise you could NOT have volunteered for this...surely
Yes mate, tested it at top speed on the dirt road. Actually, the dirt on the road tyres is a heap of laughs. It's an over-dimensional route and as such has been ripped to shreds by trucks. Some sections you just hold on and hope for the best.
And the reason I volunteered for the job...
I was on days off, they paid me recall rates and 11 hours overtime. Handy just before Xmas.
SA Government tried a few years ago to reintroduce front number plates for motorbikes as a measure to catch speeding bikes that don't get detected in a front on speed camera photo. Police bikes got the front rego number to set an example. I believe they are still trying to get a law passed but the logistics of putting on a front plate may prevent it. The MRA in SA has been lobbying against it.

I hope the idea doesn't catch on.
In the mra magazine they reported that the adr people had decided motorcycles will not be required to display front plates and the proposal has been permanently dropped.
I read that when the S.A. police took it upon themselves to produce those stick on front number plates they had actually broken state laws as only approved number plates can be displayed and it is illegal for anyone other than approved manufacturers to produce number plates as they must be reflective etc etc, did all the car driving cops pull over and book all the motorcycle cops??

No. A legislative change was made to allow Police motorcycles to display the plates.
