Disc Lock and good old kawasaki steering lock (have you ever tried to pull the top triple off with it on?) and KISS (Kwak intergrated Sec Sys).
Used to be great for finding your bike (and tent) drunk at rallies but too many bikes have them (HISS & whater the other 2 call em) dont know how good it is. Any sort of stattistics?
The serious crook will prob pick it up with two skateboards and a tail lift into a pantek..

insurance mate...a disc lock...and when staying at said hotel ask em if they have sumwhere safe to park...ud be suprised how many may have a garage where they will let u park....

I just use the Disc lock and insurance, but it is within sight (me or CCTV)whenever i need to leave it somewhere.

I used to keep a dehydrated mina in my trunk. (you know, like the dinosaurs, just add water watch it grow before your eyes).

If you go for this method, keep a bottle (600ml) of water on you and a hair dryer to fit the bastard back in the trunk!!!

I am lookiing at CCTV with motion activation and recording for home for my race bike. They will have to cut the bike free but unfortunately all the insurance money is not going to get me another one (ZX7RR WSBK). Anyone know of a GPS system around that will find the bike after it's stolen and if the cops will go get it for you ?

No, but most GPS systems will locate the stolen GPS sender unit without any problem......once the sender unit is removed from the frame/wherever and tossed over a bridge, the whole GPS thing is down the tube.

I think some new $100k+ Bimmers have a tracking system installed, but its way easier to hide a GPS sender in a car body than on a bike.....

even though the bike means a lot to you, to the coppers its just *another* stolen motorcycle, being an ex-WSB will mean *jack shit* to them.

If you are really serious about keeping your bike secure, park it next to your bed, and chain it to your ankle each night. I am fully serious here mate, locks, chains, padlocks etc only stop honest people from joyriding. There are Harley's stolen every other night, which are locked in security sheds with CCTV, 10 starving German Shephards prowling the grounds, padlocked to huge U-bolts that are set in concrete........and they just float out the door

zx793rr I have been considering the cctv as a option as well but the house alarm seemed to settle things down for a bit.

its not to hard to set up but the pci cards that you get that run 4 cameras or multiples thereof seem to state intel chipsets on the motherboards and i have amd stuff in my computers otherwise i would have already done it.

alarms and hidden cctv and you will at least have pictures of theiving scum having a go....my theives so far are 10 years old so little the cops can do with them.

I think I have diverted from the original post. GPS would be great if there was a company out there that had the ability to recover your bike as soon as it was stolen. For standard bikes get good insurance. For non standard bikes, specify the value and pay through the nose. It only pisses you off when you have to pay the bill. Otherwise peace of mind for the rest of the time.
One other option is moving the main lock to a position where they cannot rip the guts out or break the steering pin. Put another switch inline so when they do rip out the guts and hotwire it, it still won't go.
I have seen guys park their bikes over the top of drainage grates and then put a chain through the whole thing. The chain was as big as the rear wheel and how many sport bike riders have the compartments to hold them......got to find a drain to.

Kryptonite ulocks are easy to get apart with a small hydraulic car jack. Found a young kid doing this to my pushbike. He would have had a very sore haed for a while.

Most disc locks can have liquid nitrogen poured on them and apparently you can brake the hardened pin / whole disc with a hammer.

Most these days just get picked up and put into the back of small vans. If your alarms going off, they don't care.

Insurance is peace of mind.
Used to never bother with it but saw a friend come off on Reefton and have his bike (only his bike luckily) slide under a then recent Falcon.
Damage on the car came to 6 grand before he even started on his bike, which was a wreck. Made me think about affording it if it happened to me.
Insured now and removes worries about theft too - for $45 per month it's worth it.
