That's because it's Federal land, not state, Airport has great motorbike parking too, been mentioned here many a time, under cover and free, down by the rental cars.
A good mate will bail you out of jail, a true mate will be sitting in the cell next to you saying "Damn, we fucked up!!!"

Or in my case, last time I was there took the boom gate down as I rode through... still didn't pay for the parking of course :)

To add to my comment about syd intn'l, if your on a bike and not aware of the free bike parking, they just tell you to park anywhere, out of the way if you can and just ride out past the boom gate, this is from the manager of the carpark. Told me not to worry about a ticket and just ride past the boom gate, swoit!
