Exhaust for ZZR600

Thu Nov 04, 2004 12:25 pm

When I have the money, I want to replace my market pipes for some louder, gruntier ones cya.gif

I'd appreciate some recommendations and if possible, a rough idea of how much it'll set me back?

Thanks!

Well ive decided that im going to a full formula1 system..

Its 4-2-1 as thats whats needed to squeze around the frame...

I had one of these put onto my 88 GPX600R i had and it made a huge
difference...

From what the mechanic has said after adding the pipes and a jet kit it will
be a different bike...

price.. probably $1000 all up including system, jets and install...

Thanks Rob, appreciate the info.

Why Formula One pipes? Was it a decision based on cost or is it better on a ZZR600 than other brands?

It was part cost, part recomendation from my mechanic...
and the fact that their australian made....

And i really liked how it sounded on the GPX, and there was a noticable
improvement in how the bike ran..

This is the 600 I recently aquired for the track. Yes it is a ZZR but far from standard. It's a 4 into 1 with megacycle muffler. The bike is alot snappier in the throttle as a result and sounds absolutely awsome shifting just before redline down the Island straight.

Megacycle cans..without the baffle make humungous noises...
I have one on the GPx with a F1 header/pipe system
but have the baffle in...so i don't set off alarms and dogs
Phantim also has a similar setup on the GPx775R.....
awesome....

Yep, far from standard. It's had that most useful of modifications...
The good old seat removal. Sure, it's uncomfortable, but heck, it's a race bike, and they aren't meant to be comfortable. Are they? Besides, it makes it lighter...

collette, make sure you check out race tune by wolf's, they are made locally (kirrawee) look and sound pretty good from what i've seen of them.

give al a ring and ask how much, cant hurt.

BTW i'd also go for the 4-2-1 or 4-1, looks much better IMNSHO.

"Good old seat" was removed due to work being done on the bike, as for it being a modification, thats being done soon with race fairings.
And I never said it was a race bike.
