M7 tollway - how to pay?

Post by MrStompy »

on saturday arvo i rode my bike through the last toll point on the M7 before the M2 (in sydney).
i think i am meant to ring some number within a period of time to pay up - which i keep forgetting to do.
what happens if i dont?
do they send me a big fine or a reminder notice?
do their cameras actually get bikes?
thanks

In Vic, the cameras are forward facing only, so bikes are exempt from paying. However I am not really sure how the M7 works. I have an E-tag on my car which works up there as well as down here. But in NSW on a bike it's diff I think!!!

But ya better ring em as it is a hefty fine if you don't call within 24 hrs !!!!! :?

I've done this - they'll send you out a letter.
I think you can call some number to pay earlier if you want, but I don't think it changes the fee.
I paid the toll plus a $10 (I think) surcharge for not having a tag.

If you have no fear, you're not going fast enough.

Hi Stompy,

Do you have a tag for your car ?

If so, ring the rta and get your bike rego put on the same account.

No need to take the tag with you on the bike, when you go through the tolls, if they get a clear photo the normal toll goes on your account, if not, its a free trip !

Has worked for me so far with harbour bridge & tunnel, also M2, M5 & M7.

Cheers
Matt

I asked the RTA the same question and was told "the photo's are taken from the rear or some are from the front if they are clear they send a letter out, or put the charge on the account but if it's not clear or shot from the front well bikes don't have a front plate so um, you know what i mean"
Taken from that i asked "does that mean it's a free trip" her comment was "i didn't tell you that".

So i am unsure

And yes i run 2 tags and a bike card

If its not going to cost a heap more to wait and see then i think i will just wait to get the letter cause you never know - maybe the camera didnt get me.

They put rear facing cameras up in Vic about 12 months ago or so, maybe longer, we still get it free though :D

Here's a heads up from the MCCofNSW as to their opinion/stance on bike tolls.
