got my insurance quote
Total cost for a 20 km/h crash - $5627.65!!
glad i'm not paying for it!
the swing arm was the most expensive bit at $1085.72
get the cast off my leg next week, so it'll be all fixed by the time i'm able to ride again.
This is what 5k of damage looks like.

It doesn't take much to write off a bike these days. The cost of parts is a joke.
A mate has a copy if the Honda parts list which includes recommended retail prices. You can build a new CBR1100XX for a shade over $70,000 by buying spare parts. A new one can be had for $15,990 ride away (and you don't have to assemble it yourself). Any wonder insurance premiums are so high.

That little excursion got me a new bike though
Hmmm had I known how cheap it was going to go at auction I would have bought it back!
The bike ended up a bit further down the hill than me.... oh, and it did a bit of a flip....
basically the front washed out on a short yet quite thick stick.... then over the embankment i went.. there is a drainage ditch right near the red arrow.....which did the damage.....

That's true, mate of mine dropped his VFR and has put a small scratch in the frame from footpeg hitting it which makes it a writeoff, no idea if he's bothered claiming it, doubt it though.
A good mate will bail you out of jail, a true mate will be sitting in the cell next to you saying "Damn, we fucked up!!!"
