04/05 ZX10R use of mirrors

Post by duncanZX10R »

Any owners of ZX10Rs that have mastered the art of positioning their mirrors so they can see behind them as opposed to a great view of their elbow... (note sometimes rear view mirrors are useful, ie: to spot cars looking for bonnet emblems while you're waiting at a set of lights)

Yep, I think you're buggered. On the 10 all I can really see is my elbows. You've got to move your head a bit to see anything.

I tend to have 1 angled in a bit and one out to try and cover it but they're pretty useless
It's really all about standing around drinking Dave's beer.

I was just wondering if anyone had experimented with those small convex mirrors etc...
I did see a GIXER Thou with small aftermarket mirors on the bar ends once.. anybody know if they're any good??

Otherwise it's caution & headchecks when changing lanes, or down two cogs and a wide open throttle..

i put this mod on http://www.zx-10r.net a while ago :)

unbolt the original mirror, turn the stem 180 degrees then refit it,

the mirror now sits slightly higher than standard, so its above your elbows and can be angled to see more of whats behind you,

ive done a few rides out now with my mirrors like this and i think its loads better than they were,

give it a try, if you dont like it, just turn them around again :)

or buy these extenders http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/pr ... /2516/309/

or ive read cbr929 and suzuki gs500f (must be the f model) mirrors also work

I have a 04 six which is pretty much the same in regard to mirrors and am wondering whats wrong with you guys  if you are riding it right with your chin rested on the tank you can see out of them perfectly.
If I rode my bike at the speed of light, what would happen when I switched on its headlights?

Cheers.. I'll give it a try, at the very least it looks like it "slims" up the bike as an added bonus.

Mine point slightly at the sky, if I want to see behind me I just pull the front wheel up and I can see right over my elbows...

I've put those little convex mirrors on every bike I've owned.
They make a huge difference but take a little getting used to.

If you have no fear, you're not going fast enough.
Never argue with an idiot. He'll drag you down to his level, then beat you with experience.
