Front Brake Lines

Gidday all, aquired a front set of Hel Lines off Ebay and have fitted them
to my ZX7R.

The Factory setup is a line from each caliper into a "slave?" then a line to the master cylinder at the Lever.

This kit I aquired fits doubled up at the lever and direct to each caliper and it fits so I havnt cocked it up methinks..?

If I am right why the extra plumbing from the factory?

Just a guess, maybe to even out the fluid pressure ?

twin lines from master cylinder to calipers give better breaking feel and more positive response, i could never understand why factory fitted systems have a single line to a splitter (you would think it would add costs to production) or even worse are the single line to one caliper and a bridge over to the other

just be happy you now have excellent brakes (got hel lines myself) and got rid of the factory fitted naffness

Steve, took me awhile to figure out mine... basically as you said. Two lines going to the calipers directly. Now you need to figure out which one is left/rigt. When done properly it's really nice as it does not touch any parts/fenders etc. The improvements is simply awesome

Easy Fit up champ, dont forget to whack a cable tie around the Brake lever & tip the handlebars to the extreme LEFT overnight.

Braided lines would have to be the best mod after crash's imho.

Andi, thats a method of "gravity" bleeding the brakes, I personally prefer tp "pump" fluid in and air out, both methods are equally good though.

its ur bikes way of practicing for a lock up/low side...so its prepared to pick itself up...

But I was worried which oriface you would fit them to.
I didnt intentionally buy them out from under you.

Not sure why kawasaki split the front lines from the factory but 2 seperate lines is better as there are less connections in your system to allow air/moisture in. And the cable tie around the brake level, i was told to do that too. i did, and it seemed to take away a small amount of the spongyness and firms the lever a bit. Maybe as its sat under compression all day/night, all the small air bubbles move to the top of the system,maybe forced out into the space in the reservoir ?
