Yep, I'm thinking that's going to true for virtually every console out there, except maybe the XBox 360 or the upcoming Playstation.red_dave wrote:That would melt my PS2
Fark me, that's pretty awesome graphics, they've come a long way since Defender on an Atari console

BTW, I don't think you'd get (or put) a tank into that sort of close-in rainforest... no point putting a heavy armoured vehicle into an area where you can't turn either the hull or the turret

You'd think so, wouldn't you? But... Have you seen the episode of Top Gear where that fool Jeremy puts a Land Rover up against a tank in a forest? Thinking he would easily out manouvre it, the bloody thing just laid a big fat smoke bomb and used thermal cameras to track him... hahahahRatmick wrote:BTW, I don't think you'd get (or put) a tank into that sort of close-in rainforest...

I've seen a Top Gear (well, I think it was Top Gear) where this nutter test driver fangs around a tank range in a Range Rover with a Challenger (Chieftain?) tank in hot pursuit. Basically the Range Rover had to run away and the tank had to keep it in its sights for a certain amount of seconds for a 'kill'. The driver starts off by rocketing off in reverse and wrong-footing the tank crew, is this the one?aardvark wrote:But... It was piss funny, and I think although the Range Rover was pretty manoeuvrable, the Tank could have blown it away pretty quickly if it was allowed to use its main armament (or its hull/turret machine guns for that matter). It was a wooded area, but not anything the density of trees you get in a rain forest. Plenty of open spaces, and a fair bit of tree cover. A bit like Puckapunyal range. Tanks are good in that sort of country, you can dig them hull-down into holes with just the turret showing and generally go nuts camouflaging them.
I went out bush on the Pucka range with a tank troop. When they really didn't want to be seen (and the engine wasn't running) you couldn't see the bastards for love or money. That's pretty good for a 42 tonne lump of armour plate with a 37.5 litre V10 diesel. I was on 'come and repair me' duty a few times when I used to look after the Leopard Tank fire-control system. They'd give you a Landrover and a grid reference and off you'd go out to try and find the place on the map and look...and look..and then call up on the radio for the crew to come and get you. Even with the engine running in hilly terrain you couldn't tell where it was coming from, it's such a low note it just bounces off everything...
