I had a gortex Dainese CE armoured jacket and pants a few years ago. CE armour did it's job in a crash (saved my knee), but the gortex melted on the slightest brush with the road. I had shoulder rolled over the bars and ended up running down the road in a most amusing fashion, but managed to graze my arm on the road in the process. Not enough to bruise me, and only a millisecond of contact, but still a hole right through the gortex. Now I will only wear full leathers, how ever hot it gets.

So singlet, stubbies and thongs isn't right
Damn, I'm gonna have to advise a few of those 'fully sick' riders around Parramatta that if they come off it's gonna take along time for that skin and flesh to grow back.
Me, if it's that hot, leave the bike in the garage, take the car, or Fark it, stay at home in the air con and have a few beers
Gotta admit to nippin down the servo or Madkaws place before now in shorts and tee, but it feels very weird after all the years of being wrapped up. I reckon I would feel real awkward and over cautious if I went riding in anything other than leather now, even feel a bit suss if I've got jeans on

We just got back from our trek over to Adelaide. Coast on the way there, north via Mildura on the way home.
You'd never bank on it, but it pissed down most of the coast way, specially the Ocean Road/Laver's Hill bit - we weren't spewin MUCH, then it got really windy. More rain the next day out of Mt Gambier...
Just when you thought it couldn't get any better, its blazing hot sun all the way to Ouyen (where the report said it was only 29 [pharken 329 if you ask me]). Then today..... well we know what today is like.
Hot weather: soak your Tshirt til its dripping wet then put your leather jacket over the top. Its amazingly cool, but only for an hour til it dries. Black draggins burn your legs with the sun beating on them, so I cheated and wore regular blue jeans.

squidded big time yesterday ( nice picture Duane
), t-shirt, fingerless gloves, 3/4 camo's, runners...........
- the guys at the bike-shop didn't bat an eyelid
(>36deg....)
yes it will hurt if you fall off, but heat-exhaustion isn't very nice either, you can black-out from heat exhaustion ( then you fall off, but I guess in full leathers, etc, you aren't going to be hurt too much anyway
).
Just take it easy if you squid in this boiling weather.......anyone from the Gold Coast will tell you that 80% of riders up there are in shorts/t-shirts etc all the time. Its *pushing the envelope* I know, but heh, after 35 years of riding, I will ride in what is comfortable for the conditions, and just avoid any *spirited* riding..........just pretend you are riding a HD

thanks for the heads up!! I saw some "cool" jackets at moorooka yamaha yesterday on the clearance rack, I read the label on one, a dryrider I think, and it said nylon outerphotomike666 wrote: Not enough to bruise me, and only a millisecond of contact, but still a hole right through the gortex.
