Another new 'Z' addition !!

Postby Maccarocks » Wed Feb 08, 2017 4:48 am

Hey all,

Just decided to start a new project off, so here is my 2016 Z1000.

So far very subtle mods, just cleaning up the look and doing a little customising... New Akropovics, Radiator Guard, Tail Tidy, Levers, Axle Armour, Removed the pinstriping, custom paint is coming (black pearl instead of red), red pillion seat removed, New Gearing ( -2 Alloy rear sprocket), also looking at mirror options as well.... but so far here is what it looks like now... very happy :-)

Very nice Macca - I test rode one a couple of months back & really liked it. First things I noticed though was how low the gearing was & how my boot heel was in contact with the exhaust.
They will be the first mods I will be doing as well. I've seen a few with bar end mirrors that looked pretty good.

Enjoy the new ride. :kuda:

What's the ride like Macca? Have never been able to warm to the front light assembly on these Z's.

Hi Tim... I was exactly the same with the front headlight assembly.. but it does grow on you... I actually like it in the shed now...

The ride is very comfortable.... great seating position, can ride for hours.. so much acelleration, I have dropped 2 teeth on the rear sprocket, it takes off so fast and the new clutch is perfect... very light clutch pull, new slipper clutch as well for this model...

The front suspension is now set perfect... however the rear is quite harsh when you are 1 up... works better with a pillion but is still hard, it definitely needs a re spring to make the rear end ride a bit more plush... I will get to that later on..

I am planning to change the mirrors, some more custom paint mods... K&N air filter at next service, a set of Q3's with a 190/55 rear tyre instead of the 190/50 tyre.... it doesnt need any more... I love the ride.... will comfortably cruise in 6th at 100 kph at 4000rpm... feels great..

Hey all,

Well I have just completed a few small mods... painted some smaller panels satin black... added a carbon instrument cover and replaced the mirrors, but still looking for a better option there.. but its looking and riding really nice...

Yes Mad Kaw.. Loving this bike !!!

I am loving the look now I have had the custom paint mods done, I actually really like the red forks and panels I have left on,

Only think I am looking at modifying now is the rear suspension... very harsh now that I am getting to really know this bike...

Everything else is perfect... so looking for an option here.. could be just a spring change..

If the rear suspension on that is anything like my 2010 it is crap. I put an Ohlins in and it is a new bike, so much improvement for one mod it's insane. My front feels pretty good too, no mods required so far and I have managed to scrap the bellypan on both sides.

Oh, and my bar mirrors rock, the same ones that are on my ZRX made by a ZRXOA member :supz:
